Holy Mountain is working on a second taproom in the Phinney neighborhood in North Seattle. Right around 70th and Greenwood and it will be family friendly. Not something I ever expected but very excited since I live very close to there.

Came here to ask a question cuz my mom and her husband are out there in Seattle and they dropped off their dog with me for a week.
I said all i want is for them to bring me beer and I'll watch this Lil Ho as long as they want.
I seem to be settled on a 4 pack of Reubens/Hair of the Dog Barleywine collab. I went thru about 6 breweries and the selections are all SO DISAPPOINTING to ME.
Holy Mountains selections are so low in ABV i may as well drink water, but may have them bring wife a horsebeer or sour.

Any suggestions ? Preferrably a spot with an easy take home pack format, brewery-only , in state distro only, high abv and delicious selection?

Edit: they are in the Bellevue area. idk wtf that means

Hi all. Thanks for all this really helpful info which I have found very useful in planning for our trip next month. We are visiting from the UK and ending our holiday in Seattle for 4 nights.

We have currently booked a hotel in downtown near Pike place. From everything I’ve read the beer options (and food options?) are better further north of where we are staying. I’ve seen Old Stove and Cloudburst aren’t so far away so will aim to hit them up. Any good food options nearby? I think we can take advantage of public transport but even then Fremont is still 30 mins (?) away by bus. What are the best restaurants we should look out for downtown?

Would we be better staying in a hotel in the Fremont / Ballard region? Thanks in advance!

Plenty of great food easily walkable from downtown (look at first hill/cap hill neighborhoods and check Eater)

It's a pretty easy ($20-30) lyft/uber from downtown to ballard, and then everything is easily walkable. and it's way easier to find hotel space downtown, unless you're looking to airbnb it.

Teku Tavern and Tradewinds Tavern aren't far from the downtown area you're staying in and Capitol Hill is a short walk away with Stumbling Monk and Pine Box for beer bars and a bunch of great restaurants like Taurus Ox, Stateside, Terra Plata, Monsoon, Ooink, Spinasse, Kobuta Katsu House, Kedai Makan, Blotto, etc. Other than beer what do you want to spend your time doing in Seattle? I don't particularly spend much time downtown since I live in North Seattle (Green Lake neighborhood), but you might still like it down there. You could always use Ubers to head up to Fremont/Ballard, too.

We're so sorry that our bubbly barley water isn't to your standards.

Perhaps drinking local to you is your best option?

    Cheers!

Thanks both for the really helpful posts! I think it’s given me comfort to stay in downtown and can always Uber / bus to Fremont etc. Are the buses easy to use? I’ve now booked Joule, Musang and Stateside (thanks for the tip, menu looks ace). So just need to find a meal for our last night. Any tips for a bit of a last night splurge?

In terms of plan whilst there, not done much research yet! Food and beer plans first haha. Would gratefully listen to any recommendations. We won’t have a car and staying 4 nights. Thanks so much!

The bus is easy to use except for you pay when you get off. They use a zone system. I just ask the driver when I get on. Check the Metro website. Also, there is now the light rail, but it doesn't go to FreeLard.

anybody happen to know what breweries in Seattle have legit air conditioning? I’m pretty sure most (all?) of my usual go-to spots are no dice (Holy Mtn, Cloudburst, Machine House, etc)… Oh, and ideally BYOF is ok.

Absolutely no clue. I have central air so I’m just staying home and enjoying it. Fremont has misters outside, but not sure about AC.

edit: looking at IG, I think Big Time and Ravenna have AC.

I was doom scrolling IG feed after IG feed looking for evidence of AC, and all I was really coming across were posts from last yr’s heatwave about closures because of the high temps. I pinged Ravenna to inquire about AC. My house is currently registering as hotAF :expressionless:

the ol A1 hop shop delivered for me. Shelf full of several options. Left with a brew 6k, bbomb 21, coconut cacao dark star, and coffee cinn bbomb. Thanks for the tip!!

Tried to taste a few brews at holy mountain but was told to GTFO because we had our 8 year old with us. Disappointing but whatever

If John wants to update the OP, Mirage is now open on Fridays from 5-8pm at their facility in Georgetown. It’s a very low key beta test where you can walk around, have a beer and buy some cans. They’re in the parking lot/building area behind Full Throttle Bottles. Guessing it’s 21+.

Yeah, HM is 21+ along with a couple other breweries in the city. I made sure to label them as such in the original thread post. Seen too many parents come in and quickly leave. They’re opening a second all ages taproom later this year, so maybe next time

yeah - my mistake, I should have done more research on it. We’ve taken him to probably 50 breweries across the country since he was born and it’s never been an issue. Just didn’t really register with me that it would be a problem. Oh well! I’ll definitely check out that new space when we get back out here.

Yeah, my daughter has been to breweries all over the world (she made bead necklaces and sang Peppa Pig songs with another little girl at Cantillon years ago) but our liquor laws in WA prevent minors depending on the license you have. Because of that I never assume, but I know in most places it’s not a problem.

Next time you're out, come up to Bellingham. We've got 15 breweries (with 3 more in various positions on the Coming Soon scale) and only 3 (Gruff, K2, and Structures) don't allow kiddos. When the new structures spot opens next year, it will be friendly (with a full kitchen), and you can get your Kulshan fix at K1.
