3 Floyds Brewing (2022)

The real question is why is the pick-up in early September? This has been a late fall thing the past few years.

 

The fact that there hasn't been a festival for 2 years straight now and everyone asking when they are bringing it back.

 

I checked my calendar, and I picked up the day after Veterans Day in 2021. I live and work about 45 minutes away. A long commute may not be embraced by others so close to Thanksgiving. Just a hunch.

 

Last year (2021) you could get a package with 2 random variants and 2 regular. Limit 2 packages.

There were also 2020 packages that had 2 2020 variants, and 2 regular 2020 bottles. I think it was limit 2 total packages between the 2020 and 2021 packages IIRC.

Then at the kiosk on pickup days they had $80 packages that had 1 2020 variant and 1 2020 bottle.

In 2020 in was a package of 4 regular and 1 random variant. Limit 2 packages.

In 2019 it was still a festival, ticket included 4 regular and 1 random variant. Which was also the format in 2018.

In 2016 and 2017 it was 4 regular and 1 variant but you got to pick your variant, so it was sort of first come first served on variants.

In 2015 and prior it was 4 regulars and you had to win a scratch off for the option to buy a variant for $50, and you got to pick your variant.

Before 2011 there were no bottled variants.

They have sold vintage Dark Lord bottles at various Dark Lord Days over the years as well.

 

I just hope there’s something with cardamom or they bring back greatest teachable moment.

 

I'm not sure my liver can handle DLD anymore.

Take a gummy with a bit fewer MG next time.

 

There’s no other way to live.

Correction- I believe it was the Blue wax year *was that 2014, first year of Dark Matter being in the DL that they, went to 3 bottles of regular for some reason only for that year.

Yeah I think there was a year of 3 bottles, 2013 or 2014. But mostly it has been 4 bottles. Also in 2017 there was a chance you got 2 vintage instead of a variant, I remember that making people angry.

 

When will they reveal the variants and which route will they take? 3 popular variants like last year or a whole bunch of experimentations like usual? I suspect we'll see more as they start having more free barrels from the distillery as their whiskys mature.

 

I hope it's somewhere in the middle, maybe 7ish variants.

You can have 2 classics, 2-3 previously released well liked ones and 2 experimental ones.

I liked the 3 options last year since I finally got to try HJ but would like more variety now.

 

At least give us non-adjunct Bourbon or rye barrel again.

 

Keyrock 2020 was incredible, even next to the BBT 2019 we had at the same time.

 

This coming Wednesday is the big day! Their Instagram mentioned that they'll reveal variants a few days before the release in case this wasn't obvious info.

 

Appears an imperial version of Zombie Dust is forthcoming. Maybe to coincide/in time for DLD pickups?
