Are you drinking seasonals already?

Kind of inspired from the fall beer sightings thread - if you see a seasonal on the shelf really far in advance from the actual season, do you grab it, or do you have more of a “there’s no way I’m drinking this beer this early, I don’t care how fresh it is” mentality?

I personally lean towards not drinking the marzens or Oktoberfestbiers until it gets a little cooler out, but I’ll have no problem drinking the winter beers in the fall.

I started drinking the Oktoberfests as soon as I saw them last weekend. I’ll enjoy them even more during regular season football games, but no reason I can’t enjoy them now, too. It’s a style meant to be consumed by the liter, not as a one off.

Haven't started yet, but I'll probably give anything a try that isn't an IPA. Of course that narrows down the field of candidates a lot.

A brewpub by me brews a Marzen that could pass for an Oktoberfest year-round. It sells well all year.

    +1 to that.

The Oktoberfest beer style is not a hot weather beer IMO, I enjoy that beer style more when there is 'crispness' in the air. I find it irritating that some breweries package this beer 1-2 months early (and 4-5 months early for German brewed versions) for a beer style intended for consumption in September - October.

    Cheers!

    Um... maybe? :pensive:

Does it help my case if I feel guilty about it?

I definitely like them better in cooler weather, but since they seem to move fast, I feel the need to grab them.

All of the Paulaner and H-P 12-packs were $19... a definite hike from last year. Might be a thin fest season for me.

Those are two brands definitely worth grabbing. I tried to find ayinger last year but when I did the price just seemed astronomical for 4 beers so I walked on by. But I could prob drink the hacker pschorr or Paulaner all season.

As soon as they're out, I'm in!
Except for the Pumpkin spice beers.
    Y'all can keep them.
Fests, Bocks, Winter Warmers, Barleywine, bring them on PLEASE!
Im brewing a Schwarzbier now as I type this enjoying my last Einbecker MaiBock.
The good part about brewing is the waiting/drinking.

Yesterday I received an e-mail from a local beer retailer and they have Ayinger in stock now:

    “12oz 4pk Bottles

    Ayinger

    Oktoberfest”

Yes, those beers are indeed very pricey (as are all Ayinger beers in my area) and to add ‘insult to injury’ those beers were packaged several months ago. For both reasons an easy non-purchase decision for me.

    Cheers!

Have you brewed a Czech Dark Lager yet?

Czech Dark Lager is now an 'official' beer style per BA.

Technically, what I'm Brewing is a Dark Pilsner, according to the recipe.
Schwartz is close enough for a style in my minds eye.

    Higher IBUs?

    And hops added for flavor/aroma?

In the past I used to buy Susquehanna Pils Noir at my local Retail Beer Distributor and I enjoyed drinking that beer. I have not seen Pils Noir in a long time (> 5 years).

    Cheers!

Hallertrau are for all 3 hop additions, but this time around I'm throwing in a half ounce of Crystal at Flameout that I've got laying around for a little more aroma.

Haven't found much seasonality amongst NA beers. Not ready for the Christmas beers offered though
