I saw the image below on Instagram today. Is Two Hearted IPA a new beer or a marketing ploy? For the love of Larry Bell, they better not be changing that ale. I’ll stop now before the expletives start flowing.

Are you implying that the "Wild at Heart" may mean Brett is infused? Pretty sure it's the same great beer just new slogan.

I mean, it just looks like an advertisement, nothing appears to be changed but I could be wrong

It’s the 25th anniversary for 2H. I noticed they’ve been playing with the marketing a bit lately. I’m not too worried they’re going to change the formula of what is probably their highest selling product.

I’d like to believe this is true, Harley, but I’m wary.

I have never seen them call it Two Hearted IPA as they do above. Perhaps I have missed it before? Just worried about what is my favorite beer being remarketed in the same year that Larry stepped down.

There is literally nothing mentioning it changing at all. I think you might be reading way more into it than Bells is intending.

The cans always said American IPA though

My favorite IPA too, such a uniquely tasting beer. I think it would be very dumb to change that recipe.

I say fear not. An iconic staple isn't a platform for too much experimenting. Long before the beer, "Big Two Hearted River" was my favorite short story and it resonates with generations. It might be like re-writing Genesis to change the original an iota.

Well, Genesis was very different after Peter Gabriel left and the Runt took over.

Hemingway's Indian Camp from In Our Time hooked me as a young man.

They were seated in the boat, Nick in the stern, his father rowing. The sun was coming up over the hills. A bass jumped, making a circle in the water. Nick trailed his hand in the water. It felt warm in the sharp chill of the morning.

In the early morning on the lake sitting in the stern of the boat with his father rowing, he felt quite sure that he would never die.

I'm feeling better about Two Hearted now

I’m just a cranky old man tonight. Is that a bear paw? Or wolverine holding the glass? I’m always a sucker for the throwback/retro labels, and I hope to see the new management at Bells bring those back for the anniversary year somehow.

I think this is simply adding 'IPA' immediately after the Two Hearted name rather than identifying the beer style as an American IPA elsewhere on the label. They're just naming it as an IPA now.

We sold so much of this stuff at the Pub. One of our top sellers on draft.
I always assumed it was an American Amber Ale, as it said nothing about being an IPA on the tap handle, and till the whole IPA craze thing hit.
I don't know if that is a marketing ploy in itself, or it always was an IPA & they just didn't advertise it as such?
Either way, it is a stellar beer.
    Simplicity at it's finest.
I would assume that if they did attempt to do something funky, it would be a separate release, as in Double Dale's.
Double 2 Hearted might be interesting?

We'll, I see they DO make a Double 2 Hearted, go figure. And a Black Hearted. Go figure, who knew? Probably everyone except me.
    Not available near me though.

Yea and black hearted was only in a damn mixed pack of hearts that all had wildly different bottling dates. Stand alone id buy, but mixed pack of 4 beers (two of which were two heated and lighted hearted; if memory serves me correct) no thanks.

There are still mixed boxes sitting at one of the stores I frequent :grimacing:

I wonder if Bell's will ever expand to Northern California. I looked at a craft beer store in San Diego that has Two Hearted for $4.99 a can (plus shipping). Pass!
