Hidden LC perks - they get access to smaller packages.

The idea of doing two different types of packages just seems absolutely terrible PR and a bit silly.

For a brewery like SP, I don’t know what proportion of people that will use a proxy are also on BA or in some similar way are a “measured beer geek,” but I assume it is a lot. So, the idea of doing two sets of packages doesn’t make much sense when the smaller packages were already public (just to go). It’s fairly easy to transfer money some way now adays, so there’s no need to be forced to buy it online and have someone pick it up when you can just pay them directly (since there’s, you know, no limits).

I just don’t get it. Maybe this works for them once, but if there is ever something similar released, I would assume most people will call up their favorite MO advocate and say, “Hey, can you snag me a pack? I’ll send you the cash”.

And, to be honest, I’d expect this to happen if this was LC only packages (but not public 2-bottle pack, only 4-bottle packs) if the packages don’t sell out when offered to LC, because as long as the packages don’t sell out no one “lost a pack” due to that type of behind closed doors trade, because they would have (potentially) bought one online anyway. This just wouldn’t happen as often, since the threshold is higher due to the limited number in LC.

Fully agree with this take - especially given the nature of the Anabasis release (aka over the counter sales, and not a release whereby 300 people were lining up on a Saturday morning). And by that I mean, I had no problem asking a friend to run over and pick me up an Anabasis package given the nature of how they described the release (and just venmo'ing him the money in real time), whereby I'd never ask him to go stand in line for me, and would pay the premium of an online package to have him avoid that mess.

I'm quite relieved he was able to run over and save me from spending double in this online Anabasis release.

Hoping for the same and agree with the above was not super surprised to see them pull that with the online packages but was still disappointed when it came to fruition

I actually had a proxy lined up before I saw it was a 4-pack so think I'll pass now. Unfortunate as I've never had Anabasis but not terribly interested in the others; I've gone 45 years with out it in my life, what's a few more? Taking a trip to STL in April so maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be on the cellar list when I visit...here's hoping!!!

These packages were available to everyone IP over the counter. They seem to be gone now.

Still listed at Cellar, but I guess we are 18 minutes from opening so *shrug*.

I am surprised the package is not up yet. I’d think it would just “go live” at the correct time.

Assuming the world doesn't end, plan to be down there April 20-22nd; may live at SP, SPC & Shared the whole time but that sounds like a good vacation to me. I'll hit you up closer once we make sure something doesn't go to he$$ in a handbasket!

Yea - I meant up, but not live yet. They have done that for a few packages, haven’t they? Or am I misremembering?

It’s pretty obvious at this point their supply of sours is at or past the demand. There’s absolutely no way they would be moving the amount they are without the packages. It makes you wonder if this would have happened without the pandemic and the introduction of online sales.
