What beer are you drinking now? #3576

Techno IPA from Free Will, also had a double IPA and a triple IPA tonight. If I had a quadruple IPA I could drink for the cycle. Ahhh well, Cheers!!!

 

Oysters! Damn I am jealous.

 

Drekker Chonk Banana Split Sundae Sour, 6% ABV. Pours thick and opaque medium-red, with a one-finger pink head that left foam and puree residue, much of which ended up in my mustache. Nose is banana, strawberry, chocolate, and lactose. Taste follows, quite like a banana split, moderately sweet, faintly tart. Decent thick and creamy mouthfeel. Overall outstanding.

This is one of their better pastry/milkshake sours. Went down fast, must be good.

Taste is slightly sweet, mango, peach

Smooth beer

No comment on the Alex Jones thing but folks probably know what I think. At least when I try to think. That said, the Jack Daniels has inspired me to partake in a bit of Maker’s Mark.

I don't know how to start a forum on here, but a good one is the new National Shortage leading to Brewery Closings. What a travesty!

It's awesome (hope I didn't sound like a dick), we spend 3 nights at the Cliff House in Ogunquit and had a great time. Maine will be on our VRBO list for stays when we retire next year. Cheers and enjoy a well deserved vaca!!!!

 

Bell's Double Two Hearted Ale - this is my first time having this beer and I was able to find a single so giving it a go. I'm not sure an 11% beer belongs in a 16 oz can (reminds me of Flying Dog Double Dog I have been seeing in 19.2 oz cans, yikes) but we shall see, canned on 07/16/22. Pours a massive frothy head that sticks as it settles, carbonation on the lower side, almost a burnt orange color. Smell is like 2H but amped up. Taste is...excellent, wow. I figured I would enjoy this for what it was but not as much as I am. It's definitely a big beer but the 11% is fairly well hidden. It's sweet up front but not too much and ends dryly; the hops are there but this is not a palate wrecker, which I enjoy. A slow sipper that remains interesting with each sip and as it warms it becomes a bit more complex, with the dryness rounding out a bit. And this is one of those beers that could be interesting to age just to see what happens to it over time.

I had a 2H recently and I do think that I prefer this beer to the original. But the issue here is that at 11% this is not a beer you would want to have too often so because of that it's probably good that it's a once per year beer for now. However, if they were to dial this in to about 9% they may have something that could give 2H a run for its money. Budmo!
