Hello BA, I am coming down from Chicagoland area for a Babe Ruth baseball tournament 8/10-8/18 in Glen Allen. I'm looking for local IPAs or BA Stouts to bring back to the Chicagoland area. Willing to bring down FFF, 18th Street, SW MI stuff or other local stuff for trade. Not a whale hunter, just a fresh beer guy.
Others can probably highlight more recommendations, but I'd suggest going to Final Gravity if you're gonna be in Glen Allen. That seems like the closest spot of the breweries I know/been to. How much free time will you have to go to breweries? Richmond isn't a huge city and pretty easy to get around, IMO.
Agree with the Final Gravity rec. it’s the closest and very much flies under the radar when most people think of Veil, The Answer, and Triple Crossing. Cork & Kegs is a great beer store that gets in the best stuff and only about 15 mins away depending on where games are being played. if you are on FB and know of some specific stuff you don’t want to drive all around for there’s the RVA T&T (tastes & trades) group you can post in.
@wlaschober if you're on FB and have some free time today check out the Corks & Kegs page. Just posted they are doing a Cycle Brewing pop-up today at Noon with a bunch of bottles you might have an interest in. Hope the trip is going well so far (for the tournament and the beer!)
I'd say its a crime if you come all this way and don't visit Hardywood. Yeah they're the home town big boy and while not IPA specialists and they don't have their signature stuff until they ramp up for GBS season but they're flagship brewery for RVA, IMO. Note: I am DC based and haven't been down to richmond in awhile.
Corks & Kegs posted earlier today they already have 5 of this year's '22 BCBS in and from the wording on it doesn't seem like they need to wait until Black Friday this year and it's available now.... - BCBS - Biscotti - Coffee - Sir Isaac - 30th Anniversary
