Penn Brewery is worth a mention. Well made lagers, food, and atmosphere. At one time I had season tickets to two sporting teams in my city. Back then the beer choices in those venues were macro and the Penn Brewery. Penn would have one little booth where they would sell draft Penn Pilsner-Vienna Lager, Penn Gold-Helles, and Penn Dark-Munich Dunkel. No Uber then you had to take a taxi or the bus. Cheers!

    Some ones I've enjoyed traveling
    Bierstadt
    ABGB
    Live Oak
    pFriem
    ExNovo in Corales NM

There are some mentioned in the thread that I've had less than impressive samples from, but reserve final judgement until I visit the brewery.

I’m in Charlotte now at olde mecklenburg and I’ll be stopping at red oak on my way back to Maryland. They both make awesome lagers.

...Red Oak once offered delivery to several states (CO was on the list)...I don't see that option now...they have plenty of other beers other than their amber I'd like to try...any way, fond memories of their beer...

Thanks! That was a very interesting read. You definitely peaked my interest and I will see if it’s sold in my area. If not, it would be a worthwhile trip down the pa turnpike in the near future, just like the old days, to pick up a case or two. I would have no problem sending you some as well. That’s what we do here as beeradvocates. Cheers!

All this talk about lagers has engendered a powerful thirst for a good lager. Just picked up a sixer of Trumer pils at the local Whole Foods here in Napa. Quite tasty and should pair well with tonight's dinner pizza.

    1. Tree House
    2. Hill Farmstead
    3. Suarez
    4. Von Trappe
    5. Tie Jacks Abbey/ Old Meck.

Honorable mention: Shilling. I spent a week vacation in Littleton NH and could walk to Shilling from where we stayed and had beer here every evening. Tried their whole portfolio and found everything solid but nothing that stood apart as really great tasting IMO.. Something about their hard water and alot of bittering hops used across all their lagers. I like my lagers softer and more aromatic I suppose. For what it’s worth Schilling as a brewery, is outstanding, the staff were amazing and highly recommend anyone to try to visit them.

Oh, that's right. Foster's owned half of Molson at the time (down to 40% after the deal with Miller).
That was a result of Foster's, then called Elders IXL, having bought Canada's #3 brewer, Carling-O'Keefe, in the late 80s and then merging it into Molson.

Black Chocolate Stout is seasonal. It should hit the stores early in Nov.

I would only call the first 3 lager breweries, but the last two make excellent lagers

Moonlight has a relatively small, rotating line-up which is pretty much half n half lagers and ales. One of the regular online offerings is lager+ale mixed pack so this ticks the box.

I now have a reliable local source for Czech Reality and Death & Taxes which is fortunate, indeed.

I've never had the pleasure to have a Tree House beer of any kind. For their lagers, what is the bottle/can format and what is the price? Is the price the same as their lower ABV ales?

Do their cans see any distribution in NorCal? I'm in Napa right now and was really hoping to score some Reality Czech at the local Whole Foods to go with tonight's pizza. No such luck, unfortunately (so am drinking Trumer pils instead, which is actually quite acceptable).

I know you can pick up cans at the brewery, but I've never seen them any place else.
