New Glarus (2022)

Per the FB page, R&D releases are back in August 2022, with Champ Rose being released on August 11 and 12 (Thursday/Friday), just before Great Taste weekend. Still no weekend hours for New Glarus, though.

 

Are release days super busy? Attempting to swing through Thursday on my way to Lake Geneva (adding an hour onto my drive). If it’s going to be crazy Thursday I might have to pass. Hoping to arrive noonish.

 

There hasn't been a planned mass release since the pandemic started (it's not over no matter how much everyone wants it to be). The last couple I went to (2019 releases) it was pretty much just show up, grab your beer and go...at worst had to wait maybe 5 to 10 minutes to finish the process but the days of an hour plus line were well gone. But who knows how it will go now but I'll bet you could still just roll up and get through pretty quick.

 

Thank you. I’ve only ever tried to stop once maybe 6 years ago and it was a Saturday after 5. Didn’t check times they were open, just assumed. Looking forward to seeing the place instead of possibly waiting in line with the time I’ll have there.

 

If they're listed as closed, that means depot too, right? It would really suck if they aren't open on the weekend I'm coming thru for Great Taste. Sunday would be the only time I'm able to swing by.

 

It does indeed mean the depot as well. It wouldn't surprise me if they changed their current policy and opened the weekend of the Great Taste but, as of now, everything is closed during the weekend.

I’m meeting a dozen guys from high school and college for several days of golf and day drinking. It will be a blurry mess I’m sure.

New Glarus posted on the bookface last night that the R&D release is Thursday and Friday with a "friendly" reminder at the end of the post that they are closed on the weekend. Could something change; sure, anything is possible but at this point I would bet dollars to donuts that they will not be open Saturday or Sunday.

 

So now the question, what are everyone's favorite NG-offering gas stations between Madison and Chicago.

 

I can save you some time, just stop at the Kenosha Woodman's right off 94 at Hwy 50 -- they always have everything available from NG.

 

Just be aware of their wonky payment terms. If I recall correctly they don't take credit cards.

 

Never paid that much attention -- cash is still king for me to keep me on budget.

 

Honestly didn't even consider that NG wouldn't be open on weekends; that's a shame. Used to like ending my weekends in town there, but I guess for the time being I'll just have to start there.
