Stupid sexy Flanders. I was intrigued by my options.

LOL. This should be pinned. Also, at first I thought you were making a fat joke. #ryewhiskeynightcap

Does anyone have an idea if the Vanilla Rye Stout is going to make it out to Chicagoland? I see a whole bunch of Untappd check-ins around Wisconsin, but nothing in Illinois as of yet...

The more popular beer shops in MKE are just getting it now so probably not too much longer for you, if it does make it.

Showed up downstate yesterday/today. $16.99/4 pack. We always see CW stuff a few days or week-ish before Chicagoland though. I'm betting end of the week or early next week. Pretty sure I'm opening one tonight and will report back. It's gonna hit the 50s here tonight and that beer is relentlessly calling my name.

You may have already seen but it seems this has started hitting the Chicagoland area this week.

I might stop at the Amherst taproom tomorrow. I will drive by the original brewery, I wonder if the building is still there. After that I will head north, I might stop at Red Eye In Wausau (not open on Sunday). I will get to try out many new beers this weekend. I don't think I will have time to stop at District One in Point but maybe????? Back to my homeland for me.

Sorry about that. I've had 2 of them since I bought it. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by this one. And I know a lot of people say that about CW Brewer's Reserve stuff. I typically really enjoy them, and that definitely included past Rye Barrel Stout vintages. The second time around it had an astringent quality to it. Both times the vanilla was not very prominent, and I prefer more balanced vanilla stouts as is. I also wonder if I've gone full blown trash palate at this point? Curious to hear the experiences of others.

I actually thought the vanilla was a bit too drying and sharply floral on the finish. Other than that I found it very similar to the Rye Barrel Chocolate Porter (which I love). Rye barrel was very well represented and comes across with that fudgy spice character other CW rye BA stouts have. I'm putting the rest of my 4 pack into hibernation until cool weather because I think it'll be perfect for me after the vanilla fades back a bit.

@Luscious_Malfoy I saw you had one too.
Maybe you can add to what these two said.

i was very much looking forward to this one and was a tad let down. and that’s after being on a real hot streak too (Kringle and 7-Layer were both highly enjoyable to me). the barrel was there but i don’t get the typical spiciness i get from rye barrels, although perhaps the vanilla muted that a little? the vanilla was perfect for me as i don’t typically care for “vanilla bombs” but i do agree with the above comment that it did have a little drying effect (as opposed to lending a creaminess). certainly not a bad beer by any means and maybe my expectations were too high going into it. cheers!

I really enjoyed it, the vanilla is pretty evident and it plays nicely with the barrel to add a chocolate and a coffee note. It's definitely in the drier side, even comparing to most CW stouts, but the flavors are certainly very pleasant. I got a 4-pack and am very happy that I did, although I don't know if it's worth more than one to store for the years to come as it'll only get thinner/drier.

Has there been any grumbling on Raspberry Kringle Stout? Feels crazy to just happen upon it and bottled on 6/21.

Didn't even know this was a thing. Me personally, I'll just take the raspberry kringle.

Not sure if people don’t care about CW anymore or just want to keep the releases a secret to people who don’t follow them on their non Twitter social media but black gold release tickets go on sale 8/28

I'm more interested in CW MKEs 1st anny beers today but I don't suspect I'll be lucky enough to get a ticket.

I was surprised to see that tickets are still available. I assumed there were limited numbers due to smaller space (as compared to Amherst).

I was going to pass, but my FOMO kicked in as soon as the clock struck 6

I guess I had nothing to be worried about with tickets still available... which saddens me. I expect the same level of interest from you folks for black gold.
