    Hey, y'all,

Most pleasant weekend around my neck of the woods for a while. Getting a break from the heat, with things mostly sunny and in the mid 80s. But, fear not, the heat is predicted to return again right away. Things will be back around 100 by next Friday.

Got some good news from the Parental Units at the end of the week, though. My Mom finally was able to get the gallbladder taken outthat crapped out in her back in early June, and another couple related procedures got done as well, so, for the foreseeable future, she's done with hospitals and can spend what's left of the summer healing up and getting back to her normal shape. It's gonna be about 5-10 degrees hotter where they live than it will be for me, though, so for the next week, at least, I'm predicting they'll keep hunkering down in their house with the a/c on.

Anyway, thanks to the multiple boxes I received through current and alumni members of the NBS BIF, I've been hitting new beers for most of the last week.

Yesterday, courtesy of @Whyteboar, I had myself my first beer from Bearded Iris, which was also my first from the state of Tennessee.

This was a big, imperial adjunct laden stout that was more complex than I expected it to be, and would've made an excellent after dinner beer, but was excellent yesterday afternoon.

Today, I hit a dry hopped Saison received through the good offices of @BBThunderbolt. From Propolis, a brewery in western Washington that was once lightly distributed here years ago, but has long since become thin on the ground here.

Very light, crisp and herbal. Quite refreshing for summertime drinking.

Probably done with new beers for tonight.
I might hit something not so new, or I might just pour myself a G&T while I watch a show or two.

    Cheers, y'all!

Happy Birthday, and congrats on that beer! I love a good Baltic Porter.

Evening LNNBW ... Glad to see I'm not the only one still drinking @woemad.

Pretty insanely busy day on my end prevented me from reviewing any other beers today. However as I have finished up work preparation for tomorrow - I earned a nice beer before bed, and as its been practically chilly here with temps down to the 70s, I decided to crack this big boy - Mikerphone Brewing - Lost in the Shadows Vol. 1. This is an Imperial Stout aed in Four Roses Bourbon Whiskey barrels.

Pours thicc, oily, viscous, and black as night. Not much of a head to speak of other than some fleeting bubbles when the beer is poured. The aroma is really pungent with notes of boozy bourbon and oak up front with underlying notes of vanilla, roasted malts, milk chocolate and cream. This is one of those beers where the barrel really is the star of the show and this is immediately clear from the aroma.

The taste continues that theme - notes of oak, bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla, and vanilla cream. What's really impressive to me is that although this is a bourbon forward stout, it's in no way a "hot" beer. There is a moderate amount of sweetness to the beer. Feel is medium to full bodied, smooth, and rich. Moderate carbonation.

Overall it's a delicious stout that showcases the Four Roses Bourbon whiskey barrels.

    look: 3.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25 = 4.27 (rDev -2.5%)

I had a Juice Island by Goose Island yesterday. NEIPA. It was pretty good. I would buy it again.

Banter & Co. Brewing, Brooklin, Ontario, Canada.

Picked this up yesterday from a newer brewery I don't get a chance to visit much.

Good selection style wise. I have had a few of their offering including one in this picture that was so good I bought again.

Very much looking forward to trying the other five. With my work schedule Thursday is my Friday,:heavymetal:!
