This. When you click Add to Cart, there's a link that says CLICK HERE TO ADD ADDITIONAL PICKUP NAME, IF NEEDED.
And you can rant all you want, it's a favorite past time of DL season no matter what time of year it is, but to say that consumers don't want to be stuck with some random bottles flies in the face of the crush of people falling over themselves to purchase DL packages every year.

While I'm surprised some of the pick up days haven't sold out yet, being that the packages are smaller than they've ever been, it could be they're spreading them out more than ever, assuming they have similar volume this year relative to recent years.

Sure man. These packages won't sell out... they will take them down just like they did last year.

Doesn’t matter if they sell out. They resell them at the fest next year as vintage and they sell out then.

Why cling on to that, does it affect you? I didn't even remember what happened last year and just was reminded it was the same 2 and 2 tote...although that might have something to do with a FOBAB hangover.

I too had the FOBAB hangover... I too am a big DL fan and loved the fest back in the day and look forward to it returning next year. I don't believe DL demand is the same. There are far more breweries that offer quality BA stouts. I PERSONALLY (key word, my opinion) think they'd sell more beer if they changed strategy. I don't like getting random bottles I'm paying a premium price to acquire. I'm not going to argue w/ you just to argue... cheers man!

At this point, as we've discussed here in recent weeks or months, it is a little perplexing that they still segregate this beer from any other kiosk or distributed release, particularly considering their increase in output of high ABV barrel aged stouts in 12oz bottles--which I can only presume is just as labor intensive as Dark Lord, minus the wax.

Perhaps the driver here is the intent to bring back the beer release festival, the OG of beer release festivals, which thankfully has been confirmed by them this year for 2023, even still in the absence of the brepwpub.

It isn’t like you have a chance to get a Barleywine, Pilsner, IPA or stout- these are all the same base beer with different adjuncts. Let’s reflect back to the old days-the odds were not in you favor to get a barrel aged variant for years, but then they fixed that so everyone got one. Then people complained that they couldn’t get the one they wanted because you had to be in line of an early group first before the most popular ones sold out. Then I believe they allocated equal portions of each variant for each release group, but people who lined up first got the most popular variant. So then they decided to randomize it- problem solved right? Apparently not, so they move to two variant per person to increase your odds of getting something you want. Fixed the issue, right? Nope, so then they reduce the number of variants down to 3 so you have really good odds to get what you want if you buy two allocations for 4 variants. Fixed the issue, right? Apparently not as people are still bitching about it. I for one enjoy the tradition of having no clue what I will wind up with at DLD and I think that is part of the fun. If it was just vanilla and chemtrail every year it would be boring AF.

I don’t want just Vanilla and Chemtrail every year. I hope Casino surprises me like Rrari did or Loadstar. Also, I like Muerte and I hope they keep exploring tho I’m typically not a Sauternes barrel fan because the base is already sweet (saddened by what happened to FVM) and using champagne barrels seems strange (maybe it works, not sure if they are trying to impart a dry component). It would be nice if you had the option to buy all DL variants - especially this year when they gave 4 that would work great in 4x 12 oz bottles. Would it take a little extra planning, sure. Is it possible that their access to barrels is different which limits ability to make larger batch sizes of certain brews, likely. Although, I’d bet they can obtain as many as they need and what was once a production problem likely no longer exists (why they can only offer so much quantity of certain variants). I remember the days of going to DLD and returning without a single variant. I’m certain there are folks that like it being random and maybe I’m just in the minority, but I’m not sure it’s building hype around the beers by selling this way. I agree with @Sabtos a deterrent from 12 oz bottles is likely the cost (more bottles, more fills, more breakage, etc).

I've made a similar comment a few times now, but I don't know how a brewery the size of FFF can't give us a non-adjunct stout regularly. Even before the past couple years when they didn't do one, bottle counts for the Bourbon/rye variants were pretty low (can't find it right now, but think consistently 600-ish). I would love if they gave us one non-adjunct and one random ass adjunct one. At least then you get one safe one and can't get skunked twice.

We really do need to recognize the scale of this operation and release, too. This isn't Side Project leaving a sale up for a day or too then pulling it down out of...whatever psychological reason we want ascribe to them.

We're talking about 10-15 thousand PACKAGES of 4 bombers a pop. Most of the small craft breweries we're used to seeing sell out of barrel aged or pastry stouts are doing so with the smallest fraction of such volume imaginable by comparison.

Rant deleted but I will answer your question since I did the same thing and have fixed it with the proxy. Just have your BIL email [email protected] and tell them. They will send him a response with a link to a Google form to fill out to add you to the order. You still need the original email confirmation email at pickup.

    Cheers.

The variants are actually in 750s ~25oz. So it is 50oz of beer for the variants plus 2 22oz regulars.

Also, it appears the first pickup day is sold out now. Not surprising since many people consider it the "guaranteed Handjee" day.
