I am supposed to be watching the Cowboys pre-season game now. But the MLB game on the local Fox channel is still going. Oh well I have plenty of stuff to watch on the DVR

Agreed - I haven't mowed my lawn in about a month now - it's just basically fried and in a dormant state. I want to see a few days of a good, steady rain. I like rain - this sunny, hot crap gets monotonous.

Bell's Octoberfest - Maybe it's me but there seems to be a lot more Octoberfest/Oktoberfest beers on the shelves this year and I couldn't be happier, as 1) I have always enjoyed them 2) I'm about over the IPA craze and this is a nice change of pace.

Pours from a bottle (07/22/22) a nice clear [and hear hear for clear beer!] amber, nicely carbonated, head quickly dissipates but a bit sticks around. Smell has some grain and a bit of Lager yeast in there. Taste is a bit spicy/grainy and crisp. I like this, but pretty much just a basic Lager and for my palate in the realm of an amber AAL...but not a bad thing to me by any means, as this is super refreshing. This is more what I'm looking for vs the new beer I reviewed earlier, Half Acre's Lager Town:

On our third date, me and Mrs. Raul went to a German sausage/German/Belgian beer place in Downtown LA. While there, she told me how her parents served (and she drank) Karmiliet at their bar in Dunkirk, France. This place had it on tap, and she said it tasted a bit sweeter here. This one right now, though - spot on!

Did a little downtown Houston pub crawl today. After being disappointed at walking through two new "food halls" I just left and went to some places I knew I would enjoy. Both basically had almost no restaurants even open. One had a bar that was only wine on tap, the other just felt like a generic mall food court.

So I went across the street to The Flying Saucer. I have always enjoyed this spot, just never make it a lot, and never thought the food was anything special. Well, I guess after striking out twice on that front, their Reuben sandwich hit the spot.

With an Equal Parts MKII Helles Lager, which is pretty good.



Next was a Fair Isle Odelette Biere De Garde. This was great, have notes, will review sometime on the NBW thread.



It just so happens The Flying Saucer's 22 Anniversary is tomorrow, not sure I'll make it downtown twice in a row, but the promise of Cantion might change my mind at the last second
