In this thread we only talk stouts not other ( less significant) styles.

I have a 2015 Stone RIS on my fridge thanks to @Beer_Economicus . He sent me a 2016 earlier and it drank amazing, shared it with the staff at stone.
I agree that barleywines probably get better, or dont get worse ,with age. I have 2 JW lees from 2013 and 2014 , @micada sent me a 50th Anniversary Thomas Hardys. I plan to drink them around Christmas.
Back to the only beer that matters...WWS needs to be aged if you dont like big alcohol burn. Expy? Eh the ba version isn't good aged as when fresh. BCS should be drank immediately

Been on a sobriety kick lately but it's coming to an end soon (wet hop season and zwanze day are high holy days) and I just stopped by Firestone Walker and stoked myself out. Parabaloid, Imperial Walker's Reserve, and No Ends Only Beginnings (HPB collaboration) and I'm absolutely thrilled to get back to the wonder of beer.

I promise to share my appreciation of these with you fellow stout enjoyers!

My opnion ( which shouldnt surprise you) was that the No Ends was a cloying mess. Got a 4oz pour and couldn't stand it. Way too sweet . Main reason i never go to hpb for stouts.
The Walkers Reserve is fuckin great though.
    As is Paraboloid

    Did you have any pours?

Just stopped at the store while driving past Paso.

I don't think I've ever had an HPB stout, but that's disappointing to hear. FW is usually reliable for excellent barrel aged beers that aren't too sweet so it'll be a real let down if it's a damn ice cream topping of a stout

Fair enough! Another stout that I think improves vastly with time is the Abyss from Deschutes. I had a 2013 a few months ago and it was a gem. Didn't care for it when it came out. So smooth now. Again, only my opinion!

I had a 2012 one last year on the 4th of July and it was damned great.
Some people say they fall off quick but i experienced the opposite.
My friend grabbed it same year from Deschutes in Oregon so it was probably collared properly.

FW are kings. IMHO hpb stouts are trash and not worth what they charge both BA and non BA have been let downs. I was sort of confused and intrigued when i saw they had a collab. Please report back on all of them.

Paraboloid is great. Did you grab any Parabola? The 2022 in prolly my 3rd fave. 2018 and 19 were my top 2 in that order

They make good pilsners and ipas though!

I don't have easy access to any BA Speedway here on the East Coast, but to this day I will state that BA Speedway is one of the best beer experiences I've ever had. Here's my pic from 8 years ago. Sublime.[IMG]

This one was fantastic. As thick and chewy a stout as I've ever had.

I had a draft pour of Firestone Walker's Walker Reserve 2016 this year. I can't speak to how it was fresh, but god damn did I enjoy it. I anticipated it to be oxidized to some degree, but nope, just firm stout notes all the way through.

I had never heard of that one before I tried it that day, but I wouldn't pass on a pour of it in the future.

Stupidly, marvelously over the top. Decadent chocolate cake batter, overpowering bourbon, tons of coconut, all absurdly potent. This is intense but not overly sweet, an incredible dessert beer.

I loved that UA/AC collab. Goes down as a classic in my book. The rest look excellent. The only thing from Mortalis I’ve had so far was a sour collab they did with HOMES and I’ve been thirsty for more ever since. Looking good. Cheers!

[IMG] [IMG] Another excellent dessert beer from Short Throw. Everything comes through on this and that’s what I love. You’d think it would be muddled but you can pick out the tastes from every additive they have here. If these kind of beers are your thing, you’ll dig this. Cheers.

Gonna have to drink a stout then instead of an IPA. Cheers, Hazeboi.
