    OF brands...

Autocorrect sucks. Or, maybe stubby fingers suck.

I pass through Hershey time to time so I get to try brewery only things that I like eg their peach shebang was really good last summer but i doubt they’ll ever ship such a beer. We get a variety of Tröegs, but turnover can be an issue. Perpetual IPA is really great on tap and is good if fresh. But if long in the tooth, it’s an easy pass.

In Maryland and Virginia all I can find is best by 10/22. It is that last marzen I have not bought yet this year I’m hoping some fresher ones will be available soon.

10/22 isn't SO bad, but @Bitterbill shows us there's a weird disconnect somewhere.

I blame all these year-round markets for messing with us seasonals.

Somewhat serious question... Is Troegs Bavarian Lager and Troegs Ofest the same thing? I ask because I thought the former was discontinued... And wondered if the Ofest replaced/replaces it

    Boom goes the dynamite...

Straight from their site; on the oktoberfest beer's info. Here is the link it has some neat info, including how the label was created and sketches that got it there:

In lieu of Spaten not hitting our shelves yet (@Bitterbill were your ears ringing earlier? I griped about fresh Okto being available in Wyoming to my beer guy tonight ) -- I bought some Paulaner Okto-Märzen today -- first of the season... but I've had the Hacker-Pschorr already.

I've said this in years past, and I'm bringing it up again -- If Paulaner and H-P Märzens aren't the same beer, I'll resign my palate.

I haven't done the requisite annual side-by-side yet, but I'd be hard-pressed to be convinced otherwise.

Hell -- they even have the same best-by dates this year.

I did a blind black glass side by side a few years ago, I couldn’t really tell them apart by the end. I didn’t know which was which but nothing in either stood out as much of a different beer to me.

I've noticed minimal differences in the past, but other years they seemed identical... like this year.

Same brewery. Used to have different brewmasters for each brand, but I wonder if there's big consolidation happening?

I did the same. Best before May, 2023.

So wait, is it the exact same beer? Or did they just draw inspiration from the Bavarian Lager?

It doesn’t really clarify in the article whether it is the exact same beer or not.

With enough googling I’m sure we could find out but I haven’t done so.

Be careful out there BA's, I picked up a twelve pack of Paulaner Marzen best by date of 2/23, but also picked up a four pack of the Paulaner Weisn Octoberfest and it had a best by date of 6/2022 - I was duped but don't feel like driving back out to Total Wine to get fresher stock.

So far I've picked up some Great Lakes Oktoberfest, Bells Oktoberfest, Atomic Pumpkin, and Fat Head's GSuffa. I think I may crack a couple of them open tonight!

    Wiesn.* Just sayin'.

My local said they're getting the 4-packs in this week... I'll be checking the dates.

*Which Paulaner isn't even using anymore.

We finally got Weihenstephaner Festbier here. I've never tried it before but I wish I had. It's damn good.
