My ass is guilty of using a bottle opener as well:joy:

    Were they always this way??

    Currently drinking
    Stone Brewing - Ratzkes Rage
    Chocolate Espresso Imperial Stout
    11.3%
    This is...delicious
Huge nose full of espresso and dark chocolate . Taste is big ol load of espresso bitterness with a dark fruit and massive dark chocolate finish . No show pony stuff here just classic Stone Imperial Stout brewing. I could drink this all day.

Edit: just was given info on this..its pretty much their 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout with Espresso added and that wasone of my favorite beers ever...just glorious.

Obviously, nothing to brag about but "worked" my way thru my last two cans of Terrapins 2021 Wake'n'Bake's Reserve. Blasphemous adjuncts added to the base beer! The maple-praline syrup is too much for my palate. Shared one of the four cans with a poker buddy last month who likes adjunct stouts, and it tasted off to him as well. Too much of a Scotsman to drain-pour or dump on an unsuspecting soul LOL!
    Cheers!

    Celebrating tonight boys.....
    Celebrating what you say??
We have officially caught up to the Barleywine thread in page count... Barleywine Is Life? No, Imperial Stout is Life! Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. Be what may about this website...my comrades are here. Heres to many many many many many more!!!
Cheers to you all. When i started this thread i was afraid it wouldn't get any attention abd i see i am not the only one who loves this often ignored style of beer.
From Non BA to Non Adjuncted Shelfies..here we stand proud!
Opened this Jackie O's - Temple Of Minerva.
They were at the (yawnnnn) Side Project Invitational and heres a great write up on this beer : https://www.pastemagazine.com/drink...ational-barrel-aged-beers-best-beers-tasting/
Proves everything I believe in in beer.
A million thank yous to both @Blogjackets abd @Beer_Economicus for getting their hands on these for me.
I'll keep it sweet and short for this marvelous beer.
Big ass barrel and chocolate. Big ass roasted malt ( chocolate, crystal, and roasted malts ) vanilla, cocoa and nirvana.
No bullshit adjuncts here, just top tier barrel blending .
Drink good beer. No need to wait in line.

That is a fantastic beer. Definitely worthy of sipping and savoring. I’ll buy any I see.

This one is damned good. Even at 3 years old.

I drank the 32oz crowler of 2016 Double Bastard and the bottle of Temple of Minerva. Highly recommended.

The Temple opens up beautifully as it warms. A massive chocolate overload and big flavor of molasses and brown sugar dominate the palate like no other non adjuncted Barrel Aged beer i have ever had does.

Surprised you like CBS with how sweet it is. 2019 was really good

Given that there are probably 50 stouts for every barleywine on shelves (especially around here), this doesn't seem surprising at all. Complete opposite of an "ignored style of beer".

    I've only had it twice.
I believe @BigIronH sent me the second one i ever had and it was good. All of the KBS line is borderline too sweet for me, but it's that fine line. CBS is great.

In my area we only have 3 stouts at major retailers and same same at specialty stores. At some specialty stores i go to the barleywines surpass non adjuncted stouts.

Ignored style of beer from breweries and people. I meant what i said.

Well, this isn't a non-adjunct stout thread, so I assumed you meant all stouts. MANY more stouts that BW in every store I have been in.

Thank you @basaywhat for this delicious BBA Coffee Stout
Central Waters Brewer's Reserve - Peruvian Morning
Pours into glass black and starlys that way with a fizzy Mocha head that goes away as quickly as it build. Not much barrel on the nose but it comes in nicely on the palate along with some delicious coffee and cocoa flavors. Chocolate and crystal type malts dance in there with no noticeable hops.

    Would baNg again

I was in Baltimore last weekend, and a friend asked if I wanted to go to Max's Taphouse. It's a bit of a trek from where I stay, so I checked the tap list, and I was absoutely disgusted. 52 IPAs (Pale Ales, IPAs, DIPAs, etc.) and 2 stouts. TWO. I wouldn't say "ignored;" I would say "relegated to second-class citizen status." Who really needs 52 IPAs that largely taste very similar to each other?

If my wife checked her phone 52 times and only spoke to me twice at dinner i would feel...ignored:joy::joy::joy:

That's a bummer. I've only been to Max's once and it was 5-7 years ago, but I remember the list at that time being really balanced and it had lots of deep cuts. My wife ordered an Italian imperial stout that was aged in Balsamic barrels - to this day I don't remember the brewery - but it was one of the best and most interesting beers I've ever tasted.

Summer is over so it was back to work this week, ready for a long holiday weekend. Tree House Triple Shot seems like just the thing to both revive and relax me.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how sweet this isn't, just a hint of rich semi-sweet chocolate at finish. The nutty, roasty base makes for a wonderful coffee showcase throughout.
