3 Floyds Brewing (2022)

no reason to age coffee stouts. i don’t see why CM wouldn’t last well, if stored properly, into the winter months but by spring i would be long wiped out of my stash.

 

It would have been like late January to the middle of February.. Right around the end of our ice fishing season. I know all BA with adjuncts have the adjuncts fade into just good BA stouts, but we all still do it anyways. Lol.

I had already grabbed a couple 4 packs of crushing mass from the brewpub but couldn’t say no walking past a pallet of it at Costco for $19.99. They knocked it out again with this one. And apparently made a shit load of it.

 

Now I feel ripped off paying more than $19.99.

 

Could be worse. Could be like me and have Crushing Mass in your fridge for 2 days now, but you're 16 days after getting COVID and still can't taste shit. Any stout I've opened just tastes like...well, nothing. It's just sitting there, mocking me.

 

that sounds like the worst! but when you get it back and can have that first sip of CM.. glorious!

 

I have too much beer on hand, but I didn’t see this last time. So, if it actually lands near me this year, it may be hard to say no. Worst case, If I buy it and still decide I have too much beer, I send it to someone on the west coast that I k ow loves it.

 

Damn, that sucks. I had some strange sensory fog like days 8-10 or so, but nothing like that so I can't imagine. A week or so after that I felt like I experienced flavors and aromas more intensely than I remembered ever having before, so hopefully that's something to look forward to.

 

I had the rona just about a month or so ago. My sense of smell was completely gone for like 2 days, and slowly trickled back over the last month or so. I would say it's still not 100% there.

As far as taste goes, I kept my taste, but everything had this weird aftertaste and bitterness to it. That only lasted about a week before my taste was back to normal.

The biggest thing lingering right now is I'm very low energy still, just shy of a month later. I want to nap regularly, but it has gotten better the last week, so that's promising. I do notice some covid brain here and there too. Randomly forgetting words or blanking when trying to say something for a few seconds, when normally I'd have no problem with that particular word.

Covid is so fucking bizarre how it affects every person differently.

 

The fog is mostly gone now. Occasionally I struggle to come up with a vocabulary word. For a bit there, it was pretty bad. I'd just sort of trail off. Smell and tastes still pretty muted right now. Good thing I didn't end up at GTMW with you guys. I would've given you all a bonus gift.

No weird aftertaste here. Everything is just blah. A good friend of mine has had it twice, one of the times was bad. She can no longer eat onions in any form in anything. She said it tastes like vomit. Like the fog, the low energy has fortunately gone away at this point for the most part. And it is bizarre. Other 3 in my family all had super high fever and barf-o-rama for 24 hours. I had none of that and was all head and respiratory. Cough will be sticking with me for several more weeks for sure. Our middle child never got it and he shares a room with his brother who is still testing positive and having light symptoms 12 days in. Shit is weird and I'm over it. All that bitching aside, we're lucky to be relatively unscathed where so many others weren't.

Fuck it, I'm gonna go open one. I'll just have to buy another 4 pack if my taste doesn't come back in time for this 4 pack.

 

Got more of an experience than I expected. That is such a damn good beer. I'm going out tomorrow to buy more to hold me over until Cafe Deth. First stop, Costco.

 

It really is. I dare say it's my #1 coffee stout over Rev. It was close until I had one from this year's batch, but I think it edges it out. Just a fantastic beer. 3F hit a grand slam with this one.

 

Guys, chill out. At this rate there won't be any left by next weekend.

Crushing Mass sucks ass.

 

let’s try this again. definitely enjoyed this more the second time around although it’s far from my favorite floyds’ lager. perhaps in another couple weeks it will have grown on me even more.. it’s definitely not a bad beer but to me it drinks heavier than it should.

 

No Costco luck here. Only cases of Double 2 Hearted to be found. So I had to slum it for the "outrageous" price of $25 at Binny's again. I'm drinking another tonight and can't wait.

 

I anxiously await the announcement of the other ways 3 Floyds will try to take my money next weekend at the Grand Dark Lord Automobile Parade.

 

I suspect it will be solely what is currently out with the addition of Double Zombie, a random vintage BA DL option tent again, and Alpha King flavored condoms.
