    A huge Saturday night here with Geelong winning a nail-biting, hard-fought, tough-as-hell final in the Australian Football League to move us to within one game of the Grand Final (Superbowl equivalent for all you heathens).

    I had to go easy on the beers to keep my head clear and limit the chance of me throwing something at the tv.

    Heninger Premium Lager and a couple of no-alcs to get me through.

    Good day Aussie mate and good as always to see you getting us started with this thread.

    Just landed in… ah well no need to make it a mystery or something. It’s an island in the Mediterranean Sea, belonging to a country known for the Lager “Mythos” and also this fine dark lager I am sipping at the moment.

    Not a selfie and sorry that the beer is more into the background than anything, but I’m knackered because we took off from Paris CDG by 6am and didn’t sleep all night. I’m not here to be handsome, I’m here to talk beer. :wink:

    Congrats on the win. I hope you go all the way. The teams I support rarely win anything so I can't claim to know how you feel.

    It's funny that as I'm arriving in France (albeit for just a few hours) you are escaping the country, for the place that I grew up, no less. Can't tell the island but would love to hear more about it.


    That looks delicious. A good way to start a lager marathon (that I assume is to follow?).

    It’s only been a few hours here on the island Crete, but so far so good. We are about ten kilometers from Hereklion.

    I’ve always wanted to go to Greece and for this year this will be not its mainland and Athens in particular but this should be really good.

    You are on a layover at CDG too per chance? Leave this airport asap lol. If you don’t mind me asking where are you headed?

    That is awesome. Never been to Crete and I hope you enjoy it. There are several craft breweries down there and in my personal experience Solo (Σόλο) is one of the best. Gonna be waiting to see what fun stuff you drink. I hope the Fix you had didn't disappoint you too much!

    Thanks mate, but Geelong is notorious for choking in finals for the last ten years so all I feel is anxiety and dread when the games start! Why do we do it to ourselves?

    It's just the advantage, or disadvantage, of living this side of the dateline. You guys have your whole Saturday ahead of you. Mine's done!

    Good day BAs! Thanks, @AzfromOz, for kicking off today's thread! Glad to see yinz are traveling - our impromptu journey to the Pacific Northwest back in June depleted my travel funds for this year so my planned trip to the UK is off.
    Another cool morning - no groundhog yet today - these cool mornings he sleeps in, practice for hibernation, no doubt.
    No New Breakfast Beer today - we're off to the local farmers' market (hopefully) soon so I'm going with a long-standing favorite:

    Time for a new glass - the label's wearing off this one. Next Spring's trip to Germany for Stark Bier Fest should fix that.

    Fix dark lager didn’t disappoint at all. Actually as we talked before any decent Euro lager from the source and in the sun turns out to be great.

    You guys can expect some travelogue in days to come… :slight_smile:
