Wild Nation - Sandamendi

This is a pretty tasty mixed fermentation wild ale I brought with me to the Comunitat Valenciana from the Basque Country.

 

Got my errands done, no more driving I am ready to rip it up. Citra and Nelson playing like old friends with this one.

 

Happy Labor Day ba. Had planned to be up for the Mets/pirates game but alas that has been postponed till wed. Might as well start with the beer anyway. Continuing with the ofests/marzens. This one is from Zero Gravity. Not as flavorful as the Germans I had yesterday but it’s pretty decent drinking. Very smooth and dry with just a touch of sweetness on the finish. Subtle tones of malted brown bread, honey, and lemon.

Taking my pupper on a walk this morning, came across a pine tree splint in half by lightning. This is just a few block from me, down the boulevard I live on. I swore I smelled some kind of burning after the storm we had...well it came from this ha.



Half the tree is on the boulevard trail now. Tried to move some of it off to the side.



Anyway, its finally nice enough again to sit out in my wonderful courtyard. I have missed this all summer long.

Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen. In the middle of this new book, debut book from Tess Gunty, The Rabbit Hutch. This reminds me of Ottessa Moshfegh, in the craziest and best way possible. Kind of hard to summarize, basically about an 18 year old orphaned girl who lives in a housing project nick named The Rabbit Hutch, around Gary, Indiana (the actual town is made up, but a dying, decaying Midwest town), and all she wants to do is literally leave her body...ohm and then it gets weird.



Snacking on the rest of my Irish Cheddar an summer sausage, cooking Italian Beef in the crock-pot for later.

Pawtricia Canimorph DIPA - Celestial Beer Works

 

Right along here ba. Ok2berfest, two roads. Have had this a bunch in the past and I still think it’s pretty good. Rather malt forward and while it does go to the sweeter side I feel it backs away from being to sweet. I feel that sweetness brings a lot of nice candies fruit tones with raisins, sugar plums, and dates.

 

Have a good labor day. Checked out at noon after a shower and we spent another $90 on books. We are in chapel hill Carolina brewpub.




Carolina consider all dimensions. Awesome hazy ipa. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passionfruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus rind, pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, grassy earth. Medium pine/rind bitter finish. Medium carb/body. Balanced creamy/bready and sticky/resinous mouthfeel. Long drying resin finish, min astringent. Awesome citra, Simcoe, mosaic profile. Very juicy/dank/earthy hops and a nicely soft oat/wheat backbone. 4.1
