    Drinking Amstel on the beach this am here. The other day I was mistaken into thinking the local beer in red and white can was a different beer but it appeared to be instead Amstel just locally brewed for the Greeks drinkers.

    As one of her subjects (Australia is part of the Commonwealth for those of you who don't know there's a world outside the US :sunglasses:) I was quite sad to hear the news this morning. She was, as @Shanex notes, a widely respected and well-loved monarch. So now it's over to King Charles, with some very bloody large boots to fill.

    My commemoration beer tonight is a single hop pale ale from a brewery down the road called 38th Parallel. It uses a new hop variety, Eclipse, from a few hours away in Victoria's high country, that has grapefruit and mandarin peel and pith. It also has this weird over-fermented pineapple, pine needle and menthol vibe, which dominates everything in an unbalanced and overpowering way. I didn't enjoy this one at all, but I'm glad I had it regardless.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

    Pale yellow body; mild haze; nice carbonation; thick, frothy head. Pleasant aroma comprised of light malt and fruity esters; slight citrus quality. Slight tart and salty flavor; lime; little malt note; no hop bitterness per se, perhaps more of a citrus pith quality. Light to medium body; smooth; citrus tanginess throughout.

    Not bad for what the beer is, yet it seems a more like a watered down limeade drink than anything else. Rather refreshing but not exactly memorable.

    Bon jour, Shanex and to the rest of the BA faithful.

    I just picked up a 4pack of this, best before June 30th 2023. Though it IS a nitro offering, it has plenty of flavour and is a treat to drink. Just over $12 a 4pack of16.9 ounce cans, I also reckon that it's a bargain.

    A pale ale with a good head. Almost hopped like an IPA, a bit more floral than usually though, in addition to the somewhat expected citrus note.

    Fiddlehead IPA, 6.2% - bright and soft citrus flavor, incredible mouthfeel, dry finish, begs another sip, $20 a 12-pack, but at 3-weeks old this stuff is pretty fantastic! Cheers! :beers:
