4pk of the weihenstephan fest, another of the zero gravity marzen and a big dimpled pint glass is the way to go

I kept holding out for the weihenstephan cans this year. I’d much prefer pouring a half liter for my one beer of the night.

They never showed around here so I just grabbed bottles as always. I even called 2-3 places to see, no cans.

If any NJ people come across them please share, it means there is still hope.

Schilling Konstantin on tap at Lu Lu’s.

Hofbrau, Spaten, and Paulaner Oktoberfest (pale “Festbier” style) all on tap at Five Horses in Davis.

Magouns, Long Cross, and Blackmoor's Facebook pages all say, "Oktoberfest details coming soon".

They usually have their taps filled by now...

Finally started getting some Oktoberfest beers. Picked up Carton Festy, Zero Gravity and Weihenstephan Festbier (Sorry @jonphisher just bottles, no cans).

I’m pleased to report that both Jacks Abby Copper Legend, and Vonn Trapps Octoberfest are tasting on point this year. Prost!

Already grabbed my bottles…I couldn’t risk holding out too long before they were all gone. It’s the best, for my preferences, of any of the festbiers; domestic or imported :beers:

PS thanks for thinking of me

Any recs for a local, non-amber Oktoberfest?

I've been working through a six of Tröegs Oktoberfest, and it's not my favorite. Seems "green", like the brewing process was rushed or something like that. A bit too sweet, maybe. They usually do lagers really well so this is a minor disappointment.

I feel very different about that beer, enjoyed it quite a bit. Nice bready feel, dry and clean. I also really enjoy the subtle toastiness it has. Had another one last night, which have you enjoyed most this year?

I don’t know how close you are to CT stores, but I really enjoyed Counterweight’s Festbier last year.

Strange that one person picks up sweetness and another tastes it as dry. Horses for courses I guess.

So far the favorite is Suburban Festbier, which is really more Märzen-type but very dry. Yards has been good. I have a few singles of new ones for me that I'm sitting for the moment- Ayinger, Bitburger, Von Trapp, and Founders. A bit early in the "season" so I'm pacing myself.

Sly Fox, Lancaster, and Victory are on the shopping list.

It’s just as good this year, but for the CT available less amberish ofests, I think East Rock is better.
