In the heat of Oktoberfest season, another beer style is making regular appearances and seems to have almost as much variety as the former.

    Pumpkin Beer.

A personal favorite of mine. I love seasonal spices. Cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg. Cascading with brown sugar, sometimes graham cracker, vanilla, or chocolate. Nothing suits a fall afternoon with leaves blowing across the lawn better than a well made pumpkin beer.

A few notable examples local to me include:

We should consider this our “Pumpkin Beer” appreciation thread for the season. Cheers, all.

    Currently enjoying:
pours a tremendous ruby hued amber with a two finger orange/tan head of foam quickly reducing to a still liquid.

Nose is allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and raw pumpkin. Taste follows suit with a toasted pie crust undertone. Finishes crisp but chewy. Overall, 4/5 here. Cheers.

Beer releases? I don’t know. I’m sure the mods will move it to what they feel is the correct category. Cheers.

I absolutely love Pumpkin Beer, it's an essential fall style. Even in this warmer weather, I've crushed a few Pumkings and a Warlock, but nothing new to me yet

I love pumpkin pie and cakes and cookies made from pumpkin, but I just don't care much for pumpkin beer; however, they are beautiful when poured.

So far this year I've had a Lancaster Baked and Saucony Creek Maple Mistress. Both enjoyable. It's not a type of beer flavor I'm wild about, but usually have a few every autumn and always aim to have one with Thanksgiving dinner.

Would you recommend one over the other?

As with most things, it depends. Lancaster Baked is a nice, well-balanced pumpkin ale. The Maple Mistress is a lot stronger with maple, yams, and I forget what else; a good sipper on cool autumn evenings.

I'm a bit of a homer for Lancaster BC beers. They're local, I've been drinking them since 1995, and they have a lot of easy-drinking, solid styles.

The last few years I got away from pumpkin beers but this fall I’m definitely going to be mixing some in with my Oktoberfests. Needed to take a break from the hops. Lagers this summer, Oktoberfests and pumpkin beers this fall. Really looking forward to some DFH Punkin, Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin, and many others. I’m back!

Pumpkin beers are putting us in the mood for fall[IMG]Southern tier warlock. This has enough spice to add some warmth which would have make a great winter warmer[IMG]

I haven’t had a pumpkin beer in many years (though it’s possible I forgot about a random one somewhere along the line). I should revisit the style. I got away from them because I got turned off by the sweetness of many of them. I’ll take any recommendations people have for a less sweet pumpkin beer.
