Leaking Waxed Bottle Help

For multiple reasons.

 

As long as it’s not empty, any off-flavors should be overwhelmed by maple, cashews, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, vanilla, & coffee.

Ah yes, no wonder why it was perplexing. it’s both empty and full at the same time.

This had me rolling. Well worth the 10min it took to go through all the other nonsense above.

Best thread in a while! I hope it continues at least through the weekend — can’t wait to hear the OP’s report on whether or not there’s liquid in his glass bottle. (Unless there’s a twist!!!??)

For what it is worth, plenty of people have had stouts leak in transit - even with wax. It does happen. It is surely an issue with the cap. It could have been an issue when the bottle was first capped, or do to the wax. If the wax is too hot, it can sort of “pop” the cap. If the wax is the wrong consistency, it almost creates a shell that is completely separated from the bottle, rather than clinging to the bottle.

When I read the first post or few, I was on the side of, “Give him a chance”. But, OP, you really should be able to tell if there is beer in it. I have never, ever met a bottle or can that did or make a “glug glug” noise when inverted. And that’s just one of the obvious, easy methods.

The surprise twist is that the cap was a twist off!

 

Try this. Hand the bottle to your wife, and ask her if there is liquid in it.

 

And the bottle is made of cork, which is where all the beer went!

 

How to get BAs riled up:

1. Exclaim the virtues of hard seltzer and how you wish they got more shelf space (I mean isnt it great how I dont even have to mix bubbly water and booze anymore?!).
2. Insult single-minded hop heads (do you really think you can taste the difference between all these hazy IPAs before you read the label?), pastry hounds (why do you need to ruin perfectly good beer by putting candy in it?), and traditional-style stodges (if only we'd all go back to drinking unadulterated European styles then we'd have world peace, right?).
3. Claim that you've tried everything but you seriously just can't tell if a bottle of beer is full or empty.

 

Man, the hits just keep coming! Again, well played.

 

Maybe there were so many protein slugs in the bottle it just turned into a solid?

 

Has anyone considered that perhaps the bottle has been blacked out.
