Leaking Waxed Bottle Help

Yes, but @MattOC already showed a photo of the bottom from elsewhere online where you can see it clearly isn’t. Not like one of the BA bottles some breweries are using.

 

I took this as a joke on the OP user name.

 

It’s really absurd on OP’s part. I’ve shared pictures of the bottle in this thread. The label doesn’t go all the way around. The wax doesn’t cover the entire neck of the bottle. They say they’ve shined a flashlight to check and still can’t tell if there is beer in the bottle. I could share plenty more from untappd where it’s not difficult to get an idea of beer in the bottle and or light against the glass. There are pics of it on people’s countertops, etc., in the light where if it were filled appropriately or leaked the beer would be above/below the label. Others have mentioned too, if it were empty you’d know.

OP, should post their actual bottle and or open it. It’s not getting any better if there is a leak. I find it comical that they kept on quoting their stats, time on ba and hundreds of trades, so presumably have handled many bottles and can’t tell if the bottle is full/empty.

Have they been in contact with the trader that they got the bottle from? Any input there? Pics of the box/bottle before it was shipped?

 

Hopefully the OP posts a video of the big reveal. A drumroll would be appropriate lead-in, with a sad-trumpet (Wah, wah wahhhhhhhhh) if it's bad news.

 

OP, you can wait until this weekend to open the bottle, but we can end this thread now by using the laws of physics.

Fill a bucket with water (a deep sink will work too) and lower the bottle into the water. It will drop only to the level of the liquid inside (or slightly lower due to the weight of the glass). Mystery is now solved!

Let us know what happens, then end this thread.

Will you use the flashlight method, comparing weight to a known bottle, or does BA endorse the scientific approach laid out by @PapaGoose03 ?

 

I prefer a fourth option: Open it and drink it; then you'll know that it's empty.

Now the small carbide rock in a bottle with a little water, I do remember that. But it's a bit more destructive, thus more memorable.

 

In case you hadn’t noticed, as far as the OP is concerned this thread has already ended—not a peep from him since Sunday afternoon.

 

I figured him as waiting for the weekend to open it and then reporting back as he stated. In the meantime he's probably enjoying the show. We'll see.
