Here's a pic from the shelf. They've done similar "craft collab" variety packs before. I thought some here would find it interesting as a release. This was $36 where I saw it.

I had a moment of weakness and bought the case for two oktoberfest ticks that would take me to 100 total. I'll drink the rest of the Karbach and have plenty of soup starter for fall batches of vegetable soup...

I take it the beers are sub par?

Screw them! I’d rather wear Lederhosen (I’m a trans woman… I won’t be caught in anything but a Dirndl!!!) than drink that demonic company’s swill!

Brewed the Hard Way my ass!

I like the Ofest beers for my chili recipe as well.

But would you cook with a beer you wouldn't drink?

I would. I think the flavors even in a beer I don’t like can be reduced to pair well with a meal. I don’t drink wine at all and I tend to like some foods that include it in the recipe. I can recall tasting cooking sherry before and being absolutely disgusted by it. Cheers.

Try a recipe with both good & bad beers and see which you like better. I know my chili tastes different between beer styles and brands -- and I even tried it with wine substituted once -- not the same.

What I find funny is that since Goose Island is owned by AB InBev their Octoberfest should be all over the place in every store but I have not seen it at any liquor store Ive been to recently.

Yikes.... I mean I'd try all 4 if I found a single for sure. I'm shocked Golden Road even attempts the style. Idk I hope its okay I don't want people to have a bad time lol

You are correct about cooking Sherry tasting terrible; however, it offers a wonderful flavor to a chicken and rice dinner we have often. Also, I enjoy beer-battered Cod with Budweiser, and I don't like Budweiser beer very much.

Probably because it's all here in the Chicago area.

Seriously, I keep tripping over it in stores.

Good chefs will tell you not to use cooking sherry -- let alone drink it.

I hope I see this here so I can fart in its general direction.

Its a small state so they dont have all the bigger stuff. I cant even find Bell's Octoberfest and Shiner Octoberfest around anymore and those are some more of the bigger ones. They are probably in Mass. maybe or in other pars of the state but its not even worth the short drive for average beer.

I've read that it's loaded up with sodium, so that's why it tastes terrible. Try a Dry Sherry instead in your recipe, even if it's cheap and from one of the major wineries. I especially like it with Chicken (or pork) Piccata. Great nutty character.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Does this mention AB InBev anywhere on the packaging? Or is the "craft collab" meant to imply that these craft breweries are collaborating?
Wonder if the big boys will start to change their tune and try to flout their craft brands as opportunities to collaborate and get craft quality at more affordable prices

The packaging font alone screams Bud to me. Look at that '24', it is right on.

I actually like dishes made with sherry. My only point was that I don’t drink everything I cook with. Cheers.

I’ve had one beer from Golden Road. Never pursued beyond that as i thought it was awful.
