Unfiltered homebrewed pilsner with inspiration from pivo. All German noble hops, saphire and spalt with nothing but pilsner malt.

3 hrs in on the ribs, and just did the wrap with brown sugar and butter.

Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) The Brewing Projeckt Wisktoberfest (5.6%):
A Märzenfrom Wisconsin with flavors of bread toast and a smooth caramel malt. Lower carbonation. Smooth and drinkable.
    versus
    2) Raised Grain Doktoberfest (5.9%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Wisconsin with flavors of toasted bread malt, bread spice, and lightly floral caramel malt.
    versus
    3) Eagle Park M.C. Hammerschlagen (5.9%): An Oktoberfest Festbier from Wisconsin with flavors of earthy honey and German biscuit malt. Finishes sweet and flavorful. (correctly matched all three blind)

    4) Equillibrium To Space We Go (8.0% canned 5/19/22): A NEIPA from NY with Mosaic and Strata for flavors of rich, sweet and green mango flavors.
    versus
    5) Equillibrium Hubble Palate (8.0% canned 8/10/22): A NEIPA from NY with flavors of grapefruit citrus and pineapple rind. Some mango/melon. (mismatched these two blind)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    3) Eagle Park M.C. Hammerschlagen
: This one has a fantastic sweet, earthy honey flavor and German biscuit malt. Very floral as well. The flavors here are robust. Possibly the best Festbier from Wisconsin, this is one worth picking up. I'll be comparing it among some of my favorites.

    4) Equilibrium To Space We Go: Maybe the best NEIPA I've had from Equilibrium. It really captures the EQ experience. Tongs of sweet and green juicy mango. So silky and smooth. Even over 3 months old, I don't know how they do it. This one is truly one of the great NEIPAs.

Beautiful Sunday afternoon here in N. GA. Perfect for enjoying a beer on the deck and listening to some tunes. I dropped by Good Word Brewing and grabbed their new Czech Lager and a Dark Mild. This is Nobody Loves You Like I Do Czech Pale Lager checking in at a sessionable 4.4% ABV. A collab with Horus Ale in CA (I'm not familiar with them). Absolutely love just about everything from this brewery. Worth the 20-25 minute drive.

Thanks Vann, I've never seen a bad picture of her, but I'm prejudice. Plus I've never caught her in mid stink eye.
My Dad was a POW, that's his old license plate. He got captured during the Battle of the Bulge, he was probably just 20. He spent the rest of the war in a concentration camp, he looked like those walking skeletons you always see in the WWII documentaries when he got liberated. Lost part of his foot due to frost bite and suffered the usual abuse that goes along with being a POW.
I never knew about it until I was about 15, I stumbled across a box with all his clippings and papers. The pictures of him and others in the hospital are tough to look at. He never talked about it until I asked him.
Later on he joined an EXPOW chapter at my urging and actually was president for a term. I think it helped him a lot. I used to drive him and a couple of other guys to the meetings when it got hard for him to drive long distances. I learned a lot sitting through the meetings, there was a bunch of "Nam ExPows that were in the chapter too. Heros then so hopefully 19 or 20 year old's won't ever have to go thru that horror
    Cheers to them all.

I have great respect for those WWII veterans. My grandfather was in the 5th Marine Division during the Pacific Island hopping campaign. He was in demolitions. Was wounded on Saipan the same day my mother was born. My son has his Purple Heart now. He never would talk about his experiences either until my son and I sat with him one afternoon the last year of his life. Terrible stuff. I have no idea how that man was not screwed up from that experience, but he led a good and productive life. Cheers to your father!

3 Floyds Broo Doo Harvest Ale. Great fresh hop character, but with a nice honey and nutty malt balance. I'll be drinking a lot of this over the next month.
