Saison Dupont, perfect afternoon beer before I head out to the grill and make some fajitas for dinner.

    Cheers to you Grandfather
It is amazing that a lot of those Vets were able to lead a normal life after all the horrific things they saw and went thru. My Dad came back opened a business and raised 3 kids with my Mother like it never happened.

I think the Great Depression had a more lasting impact on my grandfather. He worked three jobs most of his life, even though he didn't have too later in life, because he was terrified of being poor.

I always love that descriptor because it's so fitting but so wrong at the same time!:beers: !!

That's interesting. One of our breweries here in Atlanta did an Oak Aged Marzen last year. I really liked it. Something about the oak barrel flavor that gave it an "old world" note - best way I can put it. It was a nice change of pace from the standard Marzen that is out this time of year. Cheers!

Good Sunday afternoon, BAs! A gorgeous late summer/early Fall day to drink some beer. I'm ticking my first New Mexico beer this afternoon courtesy of the generous @lordofthewiens: Elevated IPA from LaCumbre Brewing Company in Albuquerque. It's a sophisticated recipe that yields a delicious and delightful American IPA. Many, many thanks for this treat!

It's disgusting, but there isn't another word or phrase that can capture that aroma or flavor!:grin: Cheers!

    It definitely is.

I never got tired of Gordon Lightfoot « The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald » either. Very well written and well, although I’ve yet to have been in the situation of being in a sinking ship, it’s so powerful that how he wrote those lyrics and the way he sings it you can almost feel the awful stuff coming to you; a slow and painful death.

Thanks for mentioning along with Vann the fate of some WW2 vets as well. I am not going to write too much about it right now before sleep, but mad respects to everyone who served past and present.

This is a decent beer, perhaps a bit old as I didn't get a lot of distinct hop character other than a decent hop bitterness. More malt-like than anything else.

Lot of beer...That actually doesn't seem like the worst problem in the world. Hope the fair went well. Cheers!
