Spent the day in Park City, UT!
Had dinner at High West Distillery with my sis & bro in law. A great experience.,

Got a Squatters Brewing ‘Hop Rising’ Hazy DIPA right out the cold can while watching the rest of the Bears - Pack game. Cheeeeeeers!!

 

I mean, it’s a Floodland saison, so inherently it’s a well crafted beer. But it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. I was mildly disappointed.

 

Bears are going to lose tonight might need another one after this. This looks like Matt Nagy football all over again.

Fuck! The x rays scare me. Here is hoping that things turn better.

Wrapping up a great weekend in Denver with a Collette Saison at Great Divide downtown.

 

You are ok my friend. I have had a bit of turbulence and turns in my life and appreciate your experience.

 

Had a business meeting with my service advisors this evening at a local brewery. I had a couple beers with mixed feelings.
First beer was 105w oktoberfest marzen. Color was on point, malts were a bit sweet, almost like a crystal malt was used, and the hops were far too prevalent. Too bitter. It was drinkable, just not a bready treat like I have come to expect from marzen. The funny thing is these guys do a schwarzbier that's fantastic, so I'm not sure why this one fell short.
Second beer was BA quadraphenia, a bourbon barrel aged quad. I didn't get the Belgian phenols, but it had huge toffee notes in the base beer, and the vanilla and bourbon notes were amazing compliments. I wanted to get a crowler but was told no. So my wants led me to my last beer of the evening now that I'm home...
Stickee Monkee. I love this beer. Big, bold, boozy, sweet, caramel and toffee, a bit of banana gives it a Bananas foster vibe. If they put this in a rum barrel it might be more than I could bear.

Just Left Hand, Wild Provisions, and Great Divide this time. Trve and Crooked Stave last time. I was staying with a friend in Lafayette, and we hung out mostly around there and Boulder. Caught Iron Maiden in Denver last night.

 

Shit, didn't realize they were playing here last night. There have been some great shows the last month. Glad you enjoyed your visit. If you haven't hit Comrade, add it to your list for next time.

This beer is stunning; in the conversation for best pastry profile I’ve ever had. You get Starry similarities, but unreal balance of coconut, hazelnut, & chocolate. The vanilla component lifts the barrel profile, with it finishing warm, rich, and nutty.

 

Still a treat at 2 years old.
