Tis the season for the fresh hop and wet hop beers. Well, it used to be, at least. I know fewer and fewer breweries are making them. But if you see any, would be great to know about them.

Rush River is doing a release party for theirs on Saturday.

Also rumors Surly is bringing back Wet this year.

    What else is out there?

Castle Danger will have their Mosaic Fresh Hop this year again. No date yet, posting on Twitter. Also FFF Broo Doo has been released.

Fingers crossed that this is true and we will get it in Chicago (I'm not holding my breath though).

They seemed to imply that it will be limited and (maybe) only available at their Darkness Day festival.

Go start another thread about Darkness Day, don't discuss your feelings for it here!

Seems like a harsh response to a fairly benign post!

At the risk of sounding like a noob, is FFF's any good? HA had a wet hop beer I was obsessed with years and years ago, and ever since then I've been looking for something similar.

Broo Doo is continually one of my favorites (especially now that we can't regularly get Harvest Ale). And I assume you are referring to HA's Sticky Fat, which as a black IPA isn't similar.

Close; I'm not a big black IPA guy, so unsurprisingly, it's basically the lighter version of SF: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/50265/73821/

Either way, sounds like I should check out Broo Doo finally!

Fat Heads fresh hop head hunter out now. Hopefully hop stalker is around the corner. Maybe also another S.N.O.B.S collaboration as well.

Not just implied, they straight-up stated it in a follow up email:

    • WET. Our fresh-hopped ale returns after a 4-year absence. Darkness Day will be the only place to find it. Hop profile: Citra & Mosaic.

I wonder how they get the Citra hops still in a 'wet' stage. I don't think that variety is grown anywhere other than the Pacific Northwest.

They would usually freeze them and ship cold to local breweries in WA, not sure how they ship them, but could be the same technique...

Michigan hops from the looks of it. I think we're still waiting for the Mosaic/Citra harvest which is happening as we speak.

Friend tells me that Mikerphone's fresh hop beers were bangin' last year. Might have to find those. Anyone try them?

Chicago must be slightly ahead of the Twin Cities market. First I know of is Rush River's which comes out Saturday. Will give it a try and report back.

Saw that Hopewell has released their Harvest Pale Ale as well. Single hopped with El Dorado hops from Michigan.

And Founders Harvest Ale is a taproom only release again this year, unfortunately.

Just went today and snagged a fresh crowler and a couple sixers, tastes great, velvety mouthful and great hop bitterness.
