Had some nice beers there 40 years ago. Made a lasting impression. And @JamFuel was there recently, it's still going strong!

The Northeast Kingdom -- as @jhavs points out, largely because of the gem in Greensboro, but also Montpelier, etc. Such a wonderful place to hike and bike and refuel at pretty much any little spot you can find. They almost all have jaw-dropping taplists.

Chicago and surrounding areas -- this region REALLY knows beer.

Tampa -- there may be no other city that I've had quite as much fun surrounding beer than this.

Austin -- only for Jester King though, which isn't even in Austin as far as I'm concerned (not a pleasant city to visit to begin with). Still, I could spend days upon days at JK and the hill country upon which it's nestled. If only it was in San Antonio instead.

Akron -- yep! We've got a nice little scene out here, to my taste, and I never run out of excuses to bounce around (and Cleveland, of course).

I can only wish that I had spent more time in Europe, but I was too young for that to count. I hope to invest in a trip to Belgium next year.

    Of the places I've visited:
    • Portland, OR
    • Seattle, WA
    • San Diego, CA
    • London, England
My knowledge of the beer scene in San Francisco, CA is pretty outdated by now, but I'll give 'em an Honorable Mention based on history. I suspect they'd make the list if my info were more current.

Whenever I tell someone from Germany that I traveled to Lübeck as a tourist, they always respond "Why on Earth did you do that?" It ended up being a great contrast to Bavaria.

The 5 best beer cities I've been to (after my beer geekiness took off):
    1. Derby (Others would say Nottingham or Sheffield)
    2. Edinburgh (easily combined with Glasgow)
    3. Prague / Praha
    4. Barcelona
    5. Copenhagen / København

Jeez - only 5? I should add Sacramento, London (huge!), Antwerpen, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Cambridge, Göteborg, Helsinki ... And Stavanger, close to where I live (unfortunately with Norwegian beer prices).

My top 5 I’ve been to:

    1) San Diego
    2) Brussels
    3) Chicago
    4) St Louis
    5) Copenhagen

The main criteria I’m looking at is pretty much - are there several easily accessible places where I can regularly drink world class beers across multiple styles?

Prague, Munich, Vienna, some Trappist Abbey in Belgium and Escondido to represent California for old times’ sake.
The best always being the one I’m currently at - wait, we have just moved to Vienna, why am I crazy about German Helles then?
