    I read in this vintage they only aged the base for 3 months, but i pick up a nice amount of barrel presense in the palate and nose.

    This is probably my favorite non-BA stout, along with Black Albert. I have a few of these from a range of years (going back 10 years). I'm hoping to do a vertical soon. Cheers!

    Getting into a little Jackie O's this afternoon. The vanilla coffee BB Dark Apparition is really well blended with the base beer, barrel, vanilla, and coffee working very well together. Vanilla beers can overwhelm but definitely not in this case. Not overly nuanced by the barrel but just expertly blended!

    Back on shelves, Founder’s KBS Mackinac Fudge. Delicious variant. Avant garde photo. It’s all I could muster. Leveled the greenhouse today, as in raised, not destroyed or razed.

    British Imperial Stout

    Chilled can poured into a snifter

    Pitch black motor oil , deep ruby red, creamy 1.5 finger foam cap, good retention, settles to a ring , a few lacings

    Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, whiff of vanilla

    Taste is coffee, flavorful but with acridness, roast malts, dark fruits, chocolate

    Very smooth, velvety, low fizzy sudsing, syrupy, alcohol is very well hidden

    Eponymously named beer this Luscious is
