Epiphenomenon from Olde Hickory

It's a little strange at first. A bit fizzy/prickly, but flat at the same time. Almost 12% ABV, boozy and sticky, but the body is too thin. I'm not expecting a Barleywine here, but I am comparing it to Backwoods Bastard and Wulver. Not sure WTF is goin' on here. And I'm still trying pick out all the flavors mentioned on the label...


Yeah, I'm not getting any of the cocoa, coconut or almonds.

Well, it is October. First Pumpkin of the season. It's no Pumking, but not bad. A little sweet, yet a bitter bite on the finish. Still chilly around here; my wife caved and turned on the heat today. I didn't complain. Nice sipper in the gloaming.

 

Thanks!!! I try to be melodic most of the time so I appreciate your comment about being lyrical.

I think for an instrumental tune to be good, you've got to be able to hear a melody so you can kind of sing it in your head.

Yeah, that guitar has a pretty pristine tone to it, but with a touch of greasiness. I played that through my Magnatone amp and the only effects I used were a compressor and a tad of reverb.

Miked it with a Sennheiser E609. For the bass I used an Epiphone Viola bass direct into a Samson preamp and then to the board.

Just back from a rainy outing for Okto-fest at the Wooly Pig Farm Brewery in Fresno OH.....had their Festbier tapped from a wooden keg, and a Roggen brew.....gf wasn't into it - her first time going somewhere with her new pup (who did fine)
