I didn't realize this forum closes threads based on year. No worries.

Hoping you guys have been loving the OG sauces being poured up the hill. Remember - it's closer to San Diego than North County and not a long country drive!

The place has brought back a lot of nostalgia - not just because of great beers and the hole in the wall - but beer is fun again. Lot of magic lost over the years at other places.

Couldn't agree more; always a fun time to pop in to McIlhenney for some pints. Great beer at great prices and super friendly staff and clientele.

Also a good point about time to get there; people think Alpine is SO FAR AWAY, but I'm in La Mesa and it takes the same amount of time to drive to Alpine as it does downtown, and parking is far less aggravating out east!

I miss the diner feel of OG Alpine. I hope they find a way to do food.

It brings along such a huge PITA tho. They can just focus on beer now. I miss the food too.

 Miss the alpine food too. 5 dollar pints. Happy hour. The up in the hill vibe. I still get that feel in Kernville.

Stopped by Mcilhenney on way back from Tucson weekend concert on Sunday. Also grabbed Wild Child and Wizard Wand. Muntz is delicious.

3 for 3 from these guys out of Alpine. All 3 delicious. Some good memories are starting to come back.

Glad the cans tasted good. Had a bad experience with mine, but all of their beers on tap are A+.

Have they started dating their cans?

Might stop in sometime this weekend.

Asking the important questions. Last muntz I got didn't have dates, so not going out of my way for more. Such a bummer if such a prestigious brewery won't use can dates.

Agree. I wasnt out of my way when I stopped in Alpine for some cans a couple of weeks ago. I was on my home from Tucson. I looked up Untappd to see if anything was available in cans before stopping in. All 3 were fresh and delicious. I figure they are probably still selling out of the brewery so they probably arent making a lot of cans yet so I bought regardless. I'm glad I did. I dont know when my next trip will be down to Sun Diego. I dont buy any cans that dont show a date on it. The North Park cans I ordered online did not have a date on it either and they were pretty good. There is a can date on the side but they must of forgot to stamp the date on the cans. The Strata Rocket wet hop and Hop Fu were fresh and delicious too. Come on NPBC & Mcillhenney, put dates on your cans man. Stop being cheap asses.

They both use Mobile Canning so perhaps that company does not have a date coder or one that works well? Not sure it is a case of being cheap but they have no choice? Cheers.

I can't remember npbc ever stamping the bottom, but maybe they have. But pretty sure they always have it on the side, which is fine with me, I don't need it in two places and can read the side date easier than bottom dates usually anyway. But no date at all is fucking annoying.

Plans changed and I was able to swing by earlier. Had Jimbo and Bestest Buds, they’re both great.

Grabbed cans of Muntz, packaged on 9/19 (wish me luck) and Wild Child, packaged about 5-6 days ago, dates confirmed by stickers on the paktech. Wild Child was available but it was packaged sometime in August so I skipped it.

Mcilhenney just posted on Instagram that they’re shipping cans for thanksgiving. I ordered a mixed half case. Looking forward to it.

Any recent reports on the quality of the brew in the cans? I know there was some disappointment earlier this year and at nearly $30 per four pack for the mixed half case (incl. shipping) I'm hoping any QC issues have been solved.
