One of my favorite brewers if BBA Imperial Stout in CA and this is the Base Stout.
Perfect in every way. none of that sweet shit in this one that has been a plague on Stouts lately. Nothing but Big Roasted Malt , Bitter Espresso, and Dark Chocolate with a very mild hop finish.
Bravery Brewing - The Shroud Russian Imperial Stout
This brewery is run by US Veterans and I respect that they haven't changed the name to Ukranian Imperial Stout like places have been doing to appease anyone.
    Salute to these fellas!

Time to drop a biggie in here. This is a pretty famous Imp Stout that needs no intros. But I will anyway.
Perennial Abraxas Imperial Stout. 11.5% featuring vanilla, cinnamon, cacao nibs and ancho chilli peppers. Beer is courtesy of @brutalfarce from the 2021 NFL BIF33 winnings. Thank you!!

    onto my review:

Im sampling a cellar temp 750 ml bottle poured into my snifter. Beer is part of a BIF winnings from the NFL BIF 33, I think.
Beer was received last fall (2021) and has been in my cellar till today. I think it is a 2019 vintage.
The beer pours a jet black color with a fluffy tan head foaming up 2 cm even with a gentle pour. This foam slowly fades to a sturdy edge layer after the pour.
Aroma on this brew is rich dark chocolate, fudge brownie, cinnamon notes and some earthy slightly spicy pepper notes. No hint of hops nor the ABV of this beer.
First sip from the glass reveals a medium body with fine tingly carbonation and a silky texture. The mouthfeel is a little less full than I expected, but this seems a nice stout on physical traits.
Flavor is roasted malts, dark chocolate, and fudge. I then get some cinnamon and peppery notes, with very mild tingly warmth buried in the background. This warmth does show up again on the burps on the beer. I never get any hint of the ABV and hops are absent on flavor profile too.
Very glad to have tried this one as its been on my wants for a bit. Would gladly drink again.

    4.34 in the BA DB

Boulevard Imperial Cask Cuvée Imperial Stout, 13.8% ABV. One of my all-time favorites, last one I have as I drink through my cellar. I rated this one 4.61. A bit sweet, but I like them that way. This came out in 2020, hopefully they re-release it soon.

Saw this at the store this am, I jumped all over it, one of those beers I look forward to. IMHO, one of the better Russian Imperials. I think Great Lakes should take a hint from North Coast and brew this all year, extremely drinkable considering.........enjoy what's in yer glass, I am!

I say this about few beers, but for what it is and the style that it is, it’s pretty hard for me to see how it isn’t absolutely deserving of a near perfect score, and like @Luscious_Malfoy , I don’t give out 5s.

No adjunct Bourbon barrel version of War Horse’s Turn and Burn. Still a bit too cold, but still very nice flavors.

Wax sealed for better freshness @Resistance88. :sunglasses:

I've given out Seventeen 5s on here out of 188 beers. That's only 1/2 of all beers ive had according to untappd ( much easier to log beers there cuz no one really wants to read 4 paragraphs), so maybe theres more 5s there.
I must note that i do give out 5s more freely on untapld to balance out all the ridiculous scores from people that have no business rating a beer.

None of those were for a BCBS *Seal Emoji*

@VodkaPong87 can we at the minimum get one sentence out of a post from you.
id be satisfied with "this sucks" and "doesn't suck" cuz i trust your judgement based on beers i see you post.

Lol sure, I usually do in the “what beer are you drinking now” thread, but it would probably be more appropriate here. I’ll make a better effort, as you are my people (stout lovers)!
This one is just OK. The 2021 non-rye I drank the other night was miles ahead of this.

i forget who sent me this, but i think it was @adrock314 as part of an old cellar clearout.
No ABV listed and they're date code is a headache to even try to decipher or look up.
I know the ABV on these exceeds 15% though.
Pours a light brown with a mahogany hue on the edge . Nose is alcohol heat like a ************ and don't pick up shit else ( i even closed my eyes to channel my inner Bloodhound) . Taking a big ol whiff made my eyeballs feel like they were burning.
Once i sipped it though this bastard is good and the alcohol isn't overpowering at all.
<70% Dark Chocolate , Caramel, Toffee , Molasses Vanilla and I think I even pick up something akin to candied nuts . A whole lot going on here.
Barrel heat , too, that adds some balance to all the sweetness. It's a bit sweet but not cloying at all( I never used this cliche term , but its true ) the alcohol and bitterness adds a wonderful balance.
Mouthfeel is alomst perfect, middle of the road of thick and thin.
Overall I think I could drink this weekly, but the price I see them for doesn't sit right with me. 12 Dollars for single is a little steep , but I am glad I have another one that @micada sent me!
