Keeping things classy with the fourth European beer (assuming your Beck's can was not an American version), one of my first European craft beers and still one of my favorites worldwide.

I woke up sore all over from yesterday’s house and yard cleaning…morning chores done…the Dr’s self-prescribed Rx - Utopia’s Barrel-aged World Wide Stout:



Bottled 1/27/21. Poured at 53° Boozy Brandy, cherry cordial nose; hot exhale. Sweet caramel, cherries, Sherry, oaky tannins with bitter roast on backend. I like how the Utopia’s barrel aging dials down the bitter roastiness of the base. And I like the boozy 17.3%…just what the Dr. ordered…

It’s a gorgeous morning, 66° sunny and still low humidity…I’d love to finish up with my yard chores, but my aching back is encouraging me to take it easy and drink another DogFish Head while I have the stash case open…have a marvelous Monday y’all, and Cheers!

 

I needed to work from home after yesterday. Customer service Monday with the background album spinning.

Bottled 12/14/17. Poured at 53°. A joy to behold, a thing of beauty in the mouth; the bitterness has long since faded leaving flavors of caramel, figs, dirt, chewy leather; semi-sweet yet prickly alcohol and old world Sherry flavors; sugared raisins and tobacco on the backend…

Why I drink beer…my favorite beer in what I believe it’s bloom is five years post bottling…

Murky pink pour with a pink/white head that's 3 finger. Retention is ok. Some lacing on the glass.
The nose is chock full of raspberry, and it smells real, not artificial.
The raspberry hits right away, and is somewhat sweet. The sweetness doesn't last too long because the sour kicks in on the back and lingers. The raspberry flavor is real raspberry.
The feeling of the sour lingers in my throat.
Overall a delicious sour.
