Found bottles of Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig, Supplication, and STS on the shelves at Bootleggers in Topsham, ME. Only took 1 Pliny and 1 Blind Pig so it was still a few bottles of all 4 still there. Looks like its distributed by Vacationland Distribution based on Russian River's website so not sure if these are one offs but definitely a pleasant surprise !!
They've been coming to Maine for a while now. In the past Novare and Slab had it on draft. It's nice that Tony got some over at bootleggers.
Regularly or was that just sent to stores due to Russian River being in town for the event at Novare this year?
I have lived here for five years and pay pretty close attention to the beer scene, but have never once seen RR anywhere until a couple of months ago when they were here for that event. I can imagine it’s possible it’s been here before on very rare occasions, but it’s certainly never been normal. It’s popping up all over the place recently.
The drop a few months ago was purely from them doing Wild Friendship. There was a little drop years ago draft only and talks of it being more regular but it never happened.
That gas station across from When pigs fly has had bottles. I grabbed some a few months back and they had pliney but it was a busy day and sold out before we went over. It might be in Anthony’s now as well. Pigs fly should bave some draft. Also the corner pub has had draft and bottles here and there.
Got to try my first Pliny the Elder last week and did not disappoint. Perk's in Scarborough had it and a couple of other RRs. They were limiting only per beer per customer, so may have some left.
I was in the area and popped in Madden Beverage in Saco. Grabbed Blind Pig, Pliny, and Intinction. Just a wonderful weekend of drinking. Beer is subjective and, yes, I have many connotative reasons for loving that beer, but every time I have it, I can’t help but come back to the thought that this beer is the standard by which hoppy beers should be measured.
