Some days this tastes merely amazing.

    Today I'll call it sublime!

Decent enough and well balanced but unfortunately it has just a bit of that green bottle skunk in the background that’s putting me off. Kind of wish I’d got a single instead of a 6pk. Oh well

Hump Day! And a very Fallish day in North GA - drizzly, overcast and a coolish 65°F. This Arches Brewing Märzen Bier has been a local favorite of mine. Unfortunately, last year something went south with it. It had an odd tart taste in the batch I bought. To my relief, this years is fantastic. One of the best around Georgia. Really enjoying this one. Prost!

Helles doesn't get much better than Weihenstephaner. Cheers!

[IMG] Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) MORE Brewing Huntley Helles (4.5%): A Helles lager from Illinois with flavors of lemon citrus, flower, and pale Munich malts. Bready, soft, clean.
    versus
    2) New Glarus Two Women Lager (5.0%): A Helles lager from Wisconsin for flavors of smooth honey, bread malt, and a slightly fruity yeast. Slightly sweet.

    3) Revolution Oktoberfest (5.7%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Chicago with flavors of baked bread, glazed honey, flower. Balanced and complex.
    versus
    4) Goose Island Oktoberfest (5.7%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Chicago with flavors of brown bread crust and brown sugar. Boozy with a watery finish.

    5) Drekker Brace for the G’s (7.2% canned 8/19/22): A NEIPA from North Dakota with YCH 303, Citra, Vic Secret, and Phantasm for flavors of lime, kiwi, Asian citrus rind and pine.
    versus
    6) Hop Butcher Green Fly (7.5% canned 8/2/22): A NEIPA from Chicago with Simcoe and Waimea for flavors of lime, milky pineapple, and green melon. Smooth, silky, and soft.
    (All beers correctly matched blind)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) MORE Huntley Helles:
This was a surprisingly flavorful Helles. Hoppy, citrusy, floral. Almost like a German pils, but without the bitterness. Still authentic bready Munich malts with a soft, dry body. Nicely done.

    3) Revolution Oktoberfest: One of the best out there, but you wouldn't know it from the aroma. Nearly no aroma at all. Dynamic baked bread, glazed honey, and toasted floral flavors. Definitely the better Chicago Märzen, and probably the best one I've had.

    6) Hop Butcher Green Fly: This one has a flavorful lime, pineapple, and green melon flavor, but what makes this one great is the soft, milky, and smooth finish that Hop Butcher does so well. Their NEIPAs don't always punch you with flavor, but the flavors evolve slowly within the soft and silky body.

Damn its been a long day. I need more beer.. My aunt likes to stroll around the house without us knowing and ate some laminate today. Heard a huge crash and rushed to the scene. So you can just imagine nurse Dylan doctoring her up afterwards. FYI I'm far from a paramedic. So I know fuck all about tending to the hurt elderly.

    Cheers y'all!

1 of my favorite lagers there. I think it's better than the Stiegl Helles you were drinking on yesterday. I was kind of disappointed in the Stiegl helles.

This last of my North Coast Pacific Magic IPA, for now...Need to get more asap.

Its also the 50th anniversary of this ridiculous album that people are still trying to wrap their heads around. Miles Davis' On The Corner. Playing the so called Metal Spin box set...The Complete On The Corner Sessions.

I thought the Stiegl Helles was pretty good but boy did I get sticker shock over it at the time. I bought a single just to try and it was over $4 bucks if I remember. I see the price has come down since then.

It is good but not as good as the Goldbrau version. I think we talked about this last time we both had a Stiegl helles. It's still overpriced here. About 15 after taxes. As long as I can get Tucher Helles, Weihenstephaner Helles and even Benediktner I'm not paying that much. If I want to spend that much I'll just go with Flensburger or Ayinger.

That's a beauty - I just wish they'd shut up about "saving 15% or more on car insurance" every damn time you pick 'em up.
    Sorry/not sorry.
Love lizards, tho. I still remember my one class with Eric Pianka at Texas years ago - guy was a little out there on some of his opinions but also crazy knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
