Onto round 2 and enjoying the last of my Bearded Iris Tunnel Vision IPA. I find Bearded Iris to be very consistent with their IPA/DIPA quality.

Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

1) Half Acre Lager Town (6.0%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Chicago with flavors of baked bread, earthy honey flower, and a light bitterness.
versus
2) Great Lakes Oktoberfest (6.5%): A Märzen from Ohio with flavors of sweet rye bread, caramel, and leans sweet and boozy.
versus
3) Breckenridge Oktoberfest (6.0%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Colorado with flavors of toasted bread malt, and caramel. Balanced.

4) Perrennial Hurry On Daylight (6.2% no canning date): An midwest IPA from Missouri with flavors of orange, citrus, citronella, and some dry cantaloupe melon flavors with dry floral notes.
versus
5) Modist Midwest Mindset (6.2% canned 7/12/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with DDH Mosaic, Citra, Idaho 7 for flavors of citrus, floral, herbal, and pine notes. Balanced & clean.
versus
6) FairState Hack the Gibson (6.5% canned 7/29/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with flavors of juicy, tropical, herbal, black cherry, fennel, and baked chicken flavors.
(Correctly matched the IPAs, mismatched all of the Oktoberfests blind)

Winners:

1) Half Acre Lager Town: This one has a nice baked bread and earthy honey flower flavor. A nice and balanced bitterness off the end. Great Lakes and Breckenridge have previously been two of my favorite Märzens, so to take the win here, this one is pretty good.

5) Modist Midwest Mindset: This one has a nice citrus, floral and pine flavors. Light, clean, dry, and mildly bitter. Kind of does it all, which is I think what they were going for with the Midwest Mindset. FairState's Hack the Gibson IPA was surely unique with a herbal fennel and black cherry flavor, which I've never come across in an IPA. I don't know what they put in this one, but these terpenes put you on a ride.

 

I'm not sure what the issue is but sometimes the following scenario occurs:

- You post a picture of a beer you're drinking
- 10 minutes or so later you reply to another post - while still drinking the beer you already posted.
- It would be silly to repost the beer again when you're simply responding to another post.

Happens all the time here - not every single post is going to be about beer specifically. I fail to see the issue arising from such behavior, just seems like normal, human interaction.

Bitter citrus and pine. West coast baby!

 

And well worth the drive!!!!!!

 

Happy Friday Eve BA! Thought I would give this Bitburger/Deschutes collab a shot. I'm guessing this beer will have divided results. I didn't care for it. The citrus & grassy notes, level of sweetness & lingering bitterness didn't work well. Too many excellent IPA's out there that do the job better.

@beergoot, I told you they'll end up sending me a beer glass, a couple of koozies and a sticker. I'm not complaining here. Really great glass, I just have to get used it.

This batch is less sweet than the last year's. Probably because they didn't use hot granite rocks this time around.

Hi there Advocates! Thanx @Shanex for lighting up today's thread...which for some is in a woeful state of decline. People come and people go. There's not much rhyme or reason don't ya know? But on the upswing the Dog & Pony Show has some good wind in it's sails and is bookin' down the BA highway in the express lane! And since this only occurs once in this post, we're past it now.
Jever Pilsner (found 2 more cans!) and early supper of experimental Habanero Pork Verde w Zingerman's Country Miche bread and Lincolnshire Poacher organic cheese from England's North Sea Coast. The lighter-bodied Jever with it's firm hops pairs well with the hot spicy sauce. Cheers!

 

DF 60 Minute IPA is the beer I'm drinking right now.....Happy 247th birthday to the US Navy! If you've never seen the US Constitution it's a must see on any Boston tour.

 

I've had no problems with what folks have posted. Although, @beergoot may be the reason we don't seem to have any female WBAYDN forum posters.
