My sister in law that lives in Maine and only drinks Corona volunteered without me asking to mule me 4 bottles of Dinner and two other MBC beers I can't get here.
It's something special when it's years between sips of a particular beer and you forget just how much you enjoyed it.

It's actually pretty good. Festbiers are not my fav style but this one was a good one. I didn't want to commit to a 4-pack so I got it as part of a mixed lager pack. And yeah, I totally feel your pain. Drawing the line is hard!

It is far from my favorite McCarthy novel but the mood and landscape just gets under your skin. I re-read books often, but The Road is one time and affective enough to last.

    Enjoying another Oktoberfest
Beer sitting on the stone chair , finished last month .
Woolly Thyme (Thymus pseudolanuginosus) [very pettable  ) has turned all green (as opposed to stressed gray & brown) , & is starting to take off. Hoping all the chair is eventually covered, maybe by this thyme:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: 2024 .
    Cheers!

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project -- Ghost World
Blended bourbon barrel aged imperial stout
    ABV: 13.2%; pouring temperature: 44 °F: bottling info: n/a

    4.32/5 rDev +0.2%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

Dark coal body, opaque; thin yet lasting head, light brown in color; thin, sticky sheets of foam hang inside the glass. Deep cocoa and roasted grain aroma greets the nostrils. Deep, rich milk chocolate flavor infused with a modest bourbon note; a slight coffee / espresso-like note; vanilla wafer. Heavy, silky body; slick and oily; outstanding residual sugar texture; very modest alcohol warmth.

The last time some superfine Crooked Stave imperial stouts came out (as far as I've been able to grab hold of) - Maple Bourbon Stout and The Hills Have Envy - well, I knew I had better grab several of these beers. This is my first tasting of it, and brethren and sistren, I'm here to tell you: hurry to your local if you see this offering...it is damn fine and worthy of its aforementioned predecessors.

... @TheIPAHunter: quiz time - which two of these ingredients will I not use for tonight's hot wing sauce (hint - the ghost pepper will not be used - the other two peppers are serrano and sriracha - all peppers home grown)...

Other Half - Gotham Gold Lager

This beer is confusing me. It is obviously named after NYC, but it is not brewed in OH's Brooklyn location. I bought this in Rochester, which is prime OH FLX territory, yet it's not brewed there either. Instead, it is brewed in their DC location. Makes no sense.

To go along with the craziness of it all I decided to pour it not in a lager glass but in a tulip.

I always feel ….. saucy when I pour this beer in this glass. It’s like beer worlds are colliding. This iconic beer is an ATF for me - nicely bitter piney flavors combined with floral notes and a substantial caramalt backbone.

With 7 months of whiskers, it’s still drinking exceptionally well as I finally finish the 15-pack I purchased for the lake as my “lake fridge IPA.” What a phenomenal beer this is, IMHO.

Sriracha isn't actually a pepper unless someone decided to cash in on the name:

Sriracha is made from a red jalapeño-hybrid chile pepper, and approximately 100,000,000 pounds of peppers pass through Sriracha's 650,000-square-foot factory in Irwindale, California each year.

Sriracha is a type of hot sauce or chili sauce made from a paste of chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt.

Sriracha is more of a trademark name.

...I didn't think I was a BA member back when I was getting their stuff, but -- 'Brewhouse Brown Ale' got a personal overall score of 4.29 from me...memory tells me I loved Rio Blanco, but that only got a 3.35 outta me, so I must be suffering from @vabeerguy disease :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:...
