I guess they stopped making this? According to their website, they only make a few things I like. What happened to them? Palo Santo is now a rarity and as usual hard to find as usual on recent websites where you need to hunt, show more etc  nice

Funny you mention this, it was being discussed in the DFH ancient ales thread earlier (…maybe you were there). Haven’t had it in years but as someone who has always been on the fence about DFH I was definitely a fan of this one.

Haven’t had one of those in years, although there was a time when I regularly had some on hand. Think I have seen it around, and if you can believe Beer Menus it is available nearby.
On a side note, similar story with Burton Baton.

Like my handle says, I'm in the Philadelphia area, so YMMV.

I’ll cut through the blah blah and hit you with a dose of truth.,.
The massive and beautiful DFH Palo Santo Marron tank at the brewery in Delaware was torn down because, after so many batches, it lost its suck.
The beer didn’t stand up to its standard and DFH moved on.,.
    Truth.,.
How ttf did Philadelphia, Burton Baton, or Bitches Brew get in this thread? Sheesh!

If DFH is continuing their beer releases from the past, they cycle through annual releases of some of these beers similar to Burton Baton, Olde School Barleywine, Raison D’Etre and several others. I hope they don’t reduce and consolidate their special release beers.

I also really liked this ale. Maybe DFH can't get the Palo Santo wood tanks anymore.

So, I guess this explains it...sucks to have to accept the truth sometimes.

I remember hearing they used to shave the inside of the tank before each batch so the beer could touch fresh wood. Maybe it got sanded down far as it could go?

I haven’t seen it on shelves, but only within the last year. Most people around here don’t drop $10/12 oz, so stores often “age them for me.” Reportedly, sometimes the distributor takes back slow moving items to hold for a store, rotating them back in over time. Santo Marron was definitely a solid beer. I mean, most DFH heavy / dark / imperial beers are usually excellent.

Man, I miss this beer. Probably more than any DFH beers that I can’t get anymore. It was so unique and complex. Usually when a beer goes away there’s something I can sort of “replace” it with, but I don’t have a replacement for Palo Santo.

On the West Coast, I haven't seen this beer in the wild for 4-5 years. Covid has killed distribution from many mid-West/East Coast Breweries that shipped out to the West Coast (DHF, Founders). Last year, FW made a Aburana Parabola which had wood notes which different reminded me of Palo Santo. Yummy beer.
