Enjoying the remnants of thunderstorms with this bruiser today. To my tastes, I think I would have preferred this without the spices (licorice/cinnamon), but it's still immensely enjoyable.

    Review here (4.53).

Spacetime Continuum- Coconut from Tree House. 60% barrel aged stout.

Coconut has become my second favorite addjunk, a distant second to coffee. The partial barrel aging really lets it shine. This is damn good.

Had an Omnipollo Daidalos earlier (no pic), but that is a phenomenal non-barrel aged beer. It was so mellow for double almond, double coffee, double chocolate. Literally, no buzz, but a sublime relaxing calming effect. $9/16 oz.

Conversely, I’m drinking a DubCo Abuse Of Stout now that is pure garbage, IMO. Nothing but artificial, cheap flavors. At $8/16oz, it is a far cry from that Omnipollo.

I can’t say what it is, but it is 10% and something that @Resistance88 might like soon. We have to keep the coast book-ends connected!

Tree House Brewing - Quadruple Shot (Barrel Blend). 12% abv. Huge aroma of espresso, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate. Similar flavors in the taste, fairly sweet. Only moderately roasty. Very thick mouthfeel, low carbonation, slick

Such a great combination of flavors on this. I think they did a great job recreating the original ‘14 batch.

I just found out today that Leto was the Goddess of Motherhood and Modesty, among other things. She was a protector and a powerful figure in her children’s lives.

My wife and I are less than 8 weeks out from welcoming our second baby and our first daughter. This seemed more than fitting and goes out to her, and the shit her body has put her through already. Cheers!

Pear Brandy Leto, Batch 2, Gold Wax (2022).

An amazing opportunity to try a very special beer for the folks over at Mortalis.

Leto… the Goddess of Motherhood and Modesty. A title both fitting and unfitting for this monster of a beer.

Motor oil pour; not overly viscous, but hardly any head retention as the liquid quickly settles black and motionless.

The nose is sweet and rich, bringing clear notes of marzipan and Funfetti cupcakes. One of the best noses on a beer I’ve ever experienced. There’s a bit of a cream liquer component that lingers.

The palate brings similar notes as found on the palate, but with distinctly more barrel influence. You get that cream cheese frosting and marzipan shortbread cookie flavor, but to accompany it is a subtle yet distinct floral / spiced component on the back-end. Hints of cardamom and candied orange peel float into the foreground as the the initial sweetness fades and accompanies a great boozy warmth on the tail.

Nice medium body here; not overly viscous, but drinks incredibly smooth with a warmth on the finish that reminds you of that finishing ABV. Lightly sticky, with the slightest touch of bitterness right before that ethanol heat hits.

This one is the showstopper I was hoping it would be; unique in the influence it took from a rare type of brandy barrel, with the perfect balance of adjunct in the form of almond cookies to balance out that soft yet noticeable influence from the barrel-aging. Exceptional.

Pallbearer Reserve Mélange from The Veil Brewing

Pallbearer Imperial Stout aged in Willett bourbon barrels for 24 months blended with Pallbearer aged in Laird's apple brandy barrels for 24 months.

Pours thick and very dark. Light carbination that settles into a very thin caramel colored head. The nose is bourbon and chocolate covered apples. Initial sip greets you with corner piece brownie vibes soaked in bourbon and finishes with apple brandy and a nice balancing heat. Fantastic at any temperature but an entirely different monster at room temps. Big, bold and unapologetic. One of the best beers The Veil has produced to date. Cheers everyone!

Boulevard More S'more BBA Imperial Stout, 11.8% ABV. Pours black with a ring of light brown bubbles that left a little lacing. Nose is chocolate and marshmallow. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, marshmallow, and graham on the close, quite sweet, faintly bitter. Decent smooth mouthfeel, overall excellent. Improves as it warms. One of the better S'mores stouts I've had.
