I have heard that Founders distro in SoCal has been cut. No more KBS special releases, no more Backwoods Bastard, etc. Is this happening all over California? Has anyone seen the new Maple Makinac Fudge?
I've seen Makinac at two Total Wines in SoCal recently. Also picked up regular KBS at Whole Foods. I really hope this isn't true as Founders is my go to for stouts. Where did you hear this and when is it supposed to be effective?
That's great that you saw the new Makinac in stores. I was talking to a couple of bottle shop owners. Haven't seen any Backwoods for months. Regular KBS, yes. None of the special releases though.
All I want is original FIS, the baby, and BB all day long. Oh, and CBS in 12 ounce bottles. No brewery in SoCal does anything close to this. Too much juice and pastry. Dodgers fucking suck too. Fuck em.
It doesn't have to be the best to what to buy some. Also, I am most interested in the Backwoods Bastard and the new French Toast Bastard. Other than maybe Beachwood, I don't know of any beers in California that are similar to BB.
Thought he was referring to CBS in 12oz bottles. There's definitely plenty of good stouts in Socal! But I'm grabbing FIS 4pk(s) when/if I cross paths with them.
decent 4 packs of ba and non ba stouts are scarce. aand regarding backwoods bastard....there are maybe 10% of breweries on state that make decent ales that way. so yea... its kinda true
The comment seems to be more about the beer than its packaging or price considering the follow up sentence. Regardless, fuck this racist brewery.
I’m not familiar with this, so please educate me if you can. But i did buy a four pack of Breakfast Stout today for $10.99. And again if you can, please let me know about any SoCal brewery that brews anything close (because I would buy it). Thanks.
not that at all ,brotha I'm also anti fascist/racist, but homeboy who sued founders got big money bag and got realll quiet after and it was staff not higher ups who used that word not EVERYONE at the brewery. let's also not act like racism isn't completely rampant everywhere and MAYBE its possible that every brewery is guilty of it . lets be real
Saying every brewery is guilty of racism (I know you qualified your statement with a "maybe") is a bit much I think, but yeah, I wouldn't be that surprised if it's more rampant than a lot of us care to think or believe. Still doesn't make it OK, but it's one of those things that as time goes by (since the particular incident), I know I tend to try not to constantly think about it. You hope that the brewery in question has learned its lesson and moved forward, and if there's no further reports of similar conduct I tend to give the brewery the benefit of the doubt and assume that they have. If there's a pattern of racist conduct and it seems to permeate the culture of the brewery in question, that's a bit harder to overlook. I was never convinced that that's what was going on over at founders, though I'm certainly willing to listen to arguments and anecdotal evidence that shows otherwise.
