Two days ago I actually watched the Namibian cricket team play the Netherlands in the T20 Cricket World Cup, here in Geelong in my little old corner of Oz. T20 is a short-form type of cricket that has taken the cricket world by storm in the last ten years. It's pretty much the equivalent of taking a pure game of baseball and shortening it to two innings each. Kids and TV love it, but crusty old traditionalists like myself abhor it. But I could hardly pass up the chance to watch the mighty Namibians take it up to the Dutch! No Windhoek Lager was available at the ground, but they did serve up some quite tasteless Bira 91 Blonde beer from India in its place.

Anyway, today's beer was another from Longstocking Nano Brewery up on the New South Wales south coast, with the beer framing the last sunny day before ten (yep, ten) days of forecast rains and floods hit south-eastern Australia, hot on the heels of a month's worth of rain last week. Just as well we live on top of a hill!

They're not actually all that solid, but it's great that they qualified for the tournament. They're what's called an Associate Nation, sort of like the equivalent of maybe AA ball in comparison to the MLB. If they played one of the international powerhouses like Australia, England or India in the longer forms of the game they would be very comfortably dealt with nine times out of ten.

But it was great watch them regardless!

MBC Fall

 

I much prefer FBS. This is good, and really well balanced, but it really lacks the punch and richness of FBS, no doubt because of the very modest ABV (<6%). But it's definitely a very good beer.

 

...getting to the end of Oktoberfests everywhere and October in general...time to make space for whatever BIF #16 beverages come my way...oh, and that Ohio trip starting later this month...this beer acquisition thing never seems to stop...
