When I was in HS, a buddy of mine had a bunch of friends over. I don't remember the exact context (though it's probably not hard to take a stab at the general theme), but at one point his dad makes some comment about how it's not the size of the boat, but the motion of the ocean.
Said friend's mom pokes her head around the corner and into the room and goes, 'yeah, but honey, it's kind of hard to get to China in a rowboat' then goes back to whatever it was she was doing in the other room.

Same friend actually almost lost some important components in a freak accident later on. Huh.

    You were and you are.

That saddens me because I've never crushed a Cali porch.

    Yet.

Hint #1: I'm not shipping to a point as close to the Pacific Ocean as I did in NBS BIF #14.
    Hint #2: I estimate there's a 77.78% chance my target is a Poo-Bah.
Hint #3: My state's flagship university doesn't play my target's in football this season. But they've previously played more than once.
Hint #4: Lots of talk of rivers on this thread. Assuming the delivery truck driver doesn't get lost, on the trip to my target's home my boxes will cross the navigable portions of at least two major rivers and perhaps a few minor ones.
Hint #5: Our son was on the crew team in college and we attended many of the regattas in which he participated. But he never rowed in the crew event located less than 10 miles from my target.
Hint #6: My target shares something in common with one of the founders of his community (besides living there).
Hint #7: This guy may have had the best sense of humor of any NFL Coach. And he needed it given how bad some of his teams were.

Dear Beersnake1, or Tim, may I call you Tim?

Please realize that rejection is part of life. You have to accept the concept of rejection, or you can start to hate your beer, your snakes, people, even yourself – which is the worst. So remember that: Rejection is Part of Life.Rejection is something that needs to be looked at logically, but even more important, unemotionally. Which is not an easy thing to do. Because the first thing we associate with rejection IS emotion. One of the major reasons that Rejection feels so bad is that it offends our sense of pride. But pride should never be part of your mentality as a beer drinker. it should be for the love of the brew. But there is also the fear side. A fear of rejection leads to perfectionism. I mean , I know first hand that you curate a MEAN BEER BOX. You need to understand that perfectionism means paralysis. When you fear rejection, you are essentially expecting perfection — you are expecting everything to go exactly as you want it to. But wishes dont always come true, now do they? No, no they do not. You want to believe that you are my target and I am your sender. You need to be brave in the face of rejection and keep a stiff upper lip. When you start to fear rejection, that means not drinking beer, not participating in hints and hauls, not rating beers on NBW — and ultimately, not drinking beer. So, dust yourself off, turn that frown upside down and keep smiling, get back in the BIF16 hints because I am not your sender.

Because I want to do better this time about drinking the beer I'm sent in a timely fashion, I'm here, on a Monday night, drinking various high abv ipas for your entertainment. Courtesy of @tasterschoice62 and @WunderLlama , let the shenanigans begin.

Wormtown Brewery - Hop Swap - 9% abv "west coast style double ipa" - undated can
"mosaic, cashmere, azacca, and idaho 7 hops"

Starting here with what I think is the freshest of the cans given what I can see from untappd checkins since I don't see a date on the can. Pours a murky medium golden with a small amount of rough off-white head. Fairly intense aromas of citrus, stonefruit, and gummy candy. Taste follows the nose and finishes with a bit of mild grapefruit pith bitterness. Some lingering grassy flavors long after the sweet candy fades. Full-bodied and sweet, this reminds me more of a hazy ipa than what I would consider to be typical of the West coast style. It's tasty, but a bit heavy, and hides the higher abv under several layers of sweetness.

    Next up:

Grey Sail Brewing - Captain's Daughter - 8.5% abv double ipa - can dated 9/27/22
    "brewed with mosaic and citra"

I mentioned I'd had this before, but on draft somewhere on the East coast several years back, so I thought I'd revisit it. This beer takes you back about 15 years when ipas tasted like... well, like this. Pours a cloudy dark golden with a fluffy white head. Smells of the classic citrus and light pine. Taste follows the nose, and it's an easy drinking medium bodied inoffensive example of an ipa. I'm not really into comparing an ipa to a woman, but here we are, and that's what they decided to go with on the can description. They might want to consider getting with the times both with the recipe and the description.

And what's this? A BLACK IPA?

Lawson's Finest Liquids - Big Hoppy - 7.5% abv black ipa - can dated 8/22/22
"made with huge additions of five hop varieties and seven malts"

I've enjoyed Lawson's ipas in the past, but it's been a looooooong time since I've had a black ipa. Moonlight Brewing does a hoppy dark "winter" ale every year, and it's probably the closest thing to a black ipa I've had in years. Pours a dark opaque chocolate with plentiful rough light tan head. Aromas of creamy coffee and milk chocolate. Taste follows the nose but the roasty coffee is more astringent and the chocolate darker, followed by a lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. There wasn't much in the way of hop character, could be due to the age of the beer or just the focus on roasty malts.

    Thanks again, Lawrence and Maynard!

Well, now that I had to go back to the drawing board and take a look at west coasters, I believe I have my sender figured out. @kemoarps, Charles Dickens did have a country home in a great English village with our family name!

Also, it appears that a certain (and quite relevant) intersection in Seattle is indeed north of the 99 toll and east of Bizarre Brewing (multiple reasons, I think I get).

Also, you mentioned my home town. I am guessing you don't know the home towns of most people on this thread but, coincidentally, I actually pointed out my home town in response to the post from @Coronaeus.

Finally, Blood Reign from Jedi Mind Tricks: "Like Calgary Flames, puttin' fire on ice". The great brawl of 2004 - Predators-Flames - best goalie fight ever. Kipper was amazing.

So, I'm calling you out @kemoarps ! If you aren't my sender, I'm sending boxes to everyone in this BIF!
