Bells Brewery (2022)

I visited Savoy Growl back in 2017 or 2018 as a newly minted craft beer nerd while working in Columbus. I’ve posted on here how that guy is a straight up dirtbag, long after this all occured and before knowing any of that. He just casually was talking to me about getting and reselling everything rare - from driving down to Tampa Bay Beer Week to KBBS to Whiskey. Fuck that guy, and fuck that store. I said then - I meant it and I still mean it - that I will never be back. Fuck that guy.

 

Oh yeah. Straight up douche bag. I stopped in there once around 2016 when my daughter was in PT school at OSU. The guy was completely lying to a customer about a beer (I can’t remember which), and how it was very rare (it wasn’t), and that’s why they were charging that price for a growler. I just walked out.

 

Oh wow I had forgotten all about that!

 

What is it you wanted to know anyhow?

 

You normally volunteer information. We haven't heard anything from you. What's in the works? What's coming? What should we expect? Anything exciting?

You seem to have information anywhere from 1-2months out to all the way up to almost a year.

 

LOL, sorry, I'm not here much any more for a number of reasons.

As of now, (subject to change and it already has a couple times) there should be an OG Black Note release, BBA Double Cream Stout and Ice Box (a BBA Oatmeal Stout @ 13.4%) all released between now and the end of the year.

That being said, BBA Chocolate Expo was delayed for months last year so these are all subject to change and delay.

Black Note is being blended and barreled differently this go around.

Hopslam is a fall release moving forward, with newer DIPA's coming next year, one of which could be Hop Grandslam. Thoughts of doing The Oracle and other previous DIPA's this year have been scrapped.

Hopefully, this information suffices for you. I'll be back next year........maybe.

Glad to hear Black Note is on the way! Actually randomly found some 2017 BN in a store last week that had me missing it fresh. How can 5 years have already passed?!?!

 

UPDATE:

BBA DCS is now available at the General Store. BREWERY RELEASE ONLY NO DISTRIBUTION.

Black Note has been pushed back and Ice Box is no longer going to be released.

OK, now I’m getting nervous. Still no Expedition in Ohio, except for the Toledo/south Sandusky area, according to their beer finder. Pittsburgh area has a bunch, so if the beer finder is accurate, they drove right by my house. My stores have no information. Does anyone have any insight?

 

Question for the people local to Bell's, what does the homebrew section in the General Store look like these days? It was reduced last time I was in. Looking online only kits show up.

 

I stopped in the General Store yesterday and did not find. Asked an employee and told me it hadn’t been released in over a year and I think that was only on tap.
