New 2022 thread. Getting harder for them to fly under the radar. Lots of diverse styles done well.

Nice smoked helles, All the Smoke, pouring right now.

it's getting a lot more expensive to eat and drink there. That said, last time I was there, about 10 days ago, Rob was there and I had a short appreciative chat with him.

2 regular lunches and 4 beers and a few to go was $175

I remember it being a bit spendy when the wife and I visited a few months back, but that's considerably more than I recall paying for lunch there. Ouch!!!

Yeah I had to break from my date and scour that bill. It shocked me. I mean the $14 375 mLbottle of coffee BB stout was good but......

I'm not going to disagree about the increased expense. But who hasn't raised prices in line with them? Honestly, I don't feel they're out of line with other spots in Sac, especially for the beer quality. I don’t like the added expense but I understand it. And last I checked many 4 pks of 16oz cans of hops and lagers were $14-18. So tell me who in Sac is cheaper, or even comparable in price, for similar quality?

I've got a bunch of travel to FL and Midwest destinations coming up. Very interested to see how pricing compares abroad. The few data points I got in Denver during GABF didn't seem that different from prices around Sac for comparable beer/food quality. YMMV

Obviously, I think a lot depends on what one orders. That being said, I usually figure that lunch for two and a couple of beers per person is going to run in the $75 to $80, tops (for two entree dishes and an appetizer/starter). Then maybe another $30 for the beers to go? Again, it depends on what one orders. Tax and tip is going to get the cost on up there a bit, but still... A buck seventy five for what @VitisVinifera purchased just seems a bit high. Not outlandish or incomprehensible, but definitely a bit spendy. IMHO

@John_M, my suspicion is its the to-go stuff driving the price. Most meal entree options are $15-20, and most full pours are $7-9. But start adding in to-go single beers (saisons, stouts, BA stuff) are easily $10-20+ each. Their 4pk prices aren't unreasonable $14-18, but 32 oz crowlers aren't much of a price break from onsite pours ($13). None of this was atypical from what I saw at a couple spots in Denver (Our Mutual Friend and Bierstadt). I'm not saying I endorse the increased expense, but I understand it and find it comparable to other similar establishments IME.

If a few of those are $15/375ml barrel aged beers, that can run up pretty quick

    @DefenCorps; @jakecattleco

I don't think there's any disagreement in our posts and opinions. As I mentioned, it of course depends on what was ordered. If you order 3 or 4 ba stouts to go.along with your lunch, that's going to jack the price tag up pretty quick. However, if that were the case, I would presume that the $175 wouldn't (or shouldn't) have come as s surprise to @VitisVinifera.

Yeah, the $175 for Lunch is misleading here. I think it was explained above, large order of TOGO bottles is a lot of that cost.

Inflation and higher costs have hit everywhere for sure.

The typical person is going to go in there and spend $20ish on Food. Then $10 to $15ish on beer. You are out the door at $30 to $35 (plus tip & tax). If you chose some togo beer, that is going to be more of course.

They have always had their menu with $ pricing online. ZERO surprises. https://www.urbanrootsbrewing.com/menu

Back to beer, their Festbier is particularly excellent. I've enjoyed all their lagers, and this is no exception.

Got a couple more Urban Roots cans.

NEW Hazy Pale Ale. Ghost Monument. Riwaka, Galaxy and Mosaic hops. Quite a bit of big flavor in a small 5% package. Solid.

I tried the overhead view the other day and also thought it was great (perfect beer to have while watching the World Cup). I'll have to look out for the Ghost Monument

Some new (to me) things in cans today included this Cold IPA. More than worthy of a spin.

CALI PILS - All American Premium Lager. From their description: Dry hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops, plus some German hops.

Pretty damn good. Crisp for sure. Could drink this on the regular.

Another solid Hazy IPA. Trampled by Lambs. Strata, NZ Motueka and Citra. Pretty tropical and soft, drinkable. They used a lot of Oates on this one.
