Wow I'm surprise they didn't hear from them. To be honest thought the label makes it hidden, which I like even more. I just keep seeing "weiser" on the label and my brain quickly interprets as weis beer. In fact I thought it was a wheat beer until I read the label. It wasn't until I reviewed it and saw "bellweiser" all together, not split up like on the labe, that I got it and laughed out loud at the genius of the name.

 

Breweries up here seem to treat this whole area as a game. Take for example the most egregious, Blood Brothers:

Those last ones were brewed a second time with less obviously stolen artwork, so there may have been a letter.

I finally finished surveying all of my targets "hads" on BA today. They have reviewed or rated more than twice the number of beers I have here. Not as many beers as one target I had a few years ago (one that has not repeated, I suspect for lack of participation), but I think he's 2nd place among all my targets in all the episodes of this BIF that I have taken part in.

 

All this talk of Barleywine caused me to do a little shopping from my COVID dungeon. Barleywines tend to be few and far between in these environs. That said, I lucked out and came across these before they sold out. The original from last year was pretty good.

I plan to include one in a box to one of you lot soon. Either the LIF box if my wife ever unchains me and lets me out to the car to get that odometer snapshot. Or, another box.

Haul hint: your first box was delivered today and is just a “tease” so to speak. A more official box is to fly next week. There will undoubtedly be a third box at some point as well. Hopefully your are in need of new Michigan beers. Cheers to the big Buffalo.

 

Yesterday's talk of barleywine, combined with a need to clear out some shelf-space, combined with a desire to finally finish off the last two beers that @ovaltine sent me in NBS BIF #11 has brought me to finally crack open this can of Straight Jacket from Revolution. I'm very jealous of those of you who have regular access to Revolution's BA beers.

Canned 10/31/19 - Root beer brown on the pour settling into a deep brown with amber hues in the glass. Decent amount of short-lived head. Aroma is rich and boozy with raisin, figs and caramel. Taste follows. Sweet, but not overly so. Figs, caramel and molasses. Alcohol is very well hidden. Smooth and easy drinking. Very good beer.

I managed to put together a box last night and as of this afternoon it is now out of my hands. This opening salvo is most of the cans, and the first food item.
The bottles and swag and the rest of the food stuff, etc might be a little late... not having a car has significantly slowed these processes down.
But the first box is off! I told the UPS guy that it was baby formula and he just gave me an understanding nod
