I can't tell how I feel about Coconut POB..

To be fair I'm not a huge fan of vanilla or coconut but I feel that FFF does well with both of these. Cocomungo was great..

This beer has the same sweet finish as Cocomungo.. it's pillowy soft like previous batches and sticky sweet. The flavors are subtle and mesh well together to create a balance of the flavors rather letting one dominate.

Alcohol definitely comes through. I've been torn on Pillar of Beasts since it came out. I'll sit here and drink the whole thing and think that it's really good and I'll also think that's it's too sweet for my preference.. and once again i don't know what to think. It hits all of the marks and I really enjoy it but it's not one of their barrel offerings that gets me hyped.

The salted caramel is the most prominent flavor.

Also, did the ingredient change from the OG batch in 2018? The original listed vanilla beans and cacao nibs on the label but the last few batches have not. Even the Instagram post for the coconut release only mentioned coconut and salted caramel. I remember the original release in the 750ml being my favorite batch.

If you see the coconut, give it a shot. It's enjoyable but definitely a dessert

DO you feel like the Salted Caramel came through more in this version than the regular version, or less?

I can't remember to be honest but it definitely has a noticeable Worther's finish. I don't know if the caramel is strong or if it just stands out more from the coconut.

I'll say the caramel doesn't need to be any more present.. it's definitely there

You could argue that, but I've been to very few shares where people open multiple bottles or cans of smaller format beers to spread it around more. Some, yeah, like Oktoberfest side by sides and other lagers just for kicks, but rare. We're more likely to tap one of those mini kegs of Rothaus pils as an all night palate cleanse option.

The reason for my question was because I really never got any caramel flavor - or very little - from the original. To me, it seemed like the caramel just kind of muted most of those great BW flavors that I look for, leaving behind a kind of tangled, jumbled mess of a BW (comparatively). My overall feeling was "Fine," but I especially avoided any future purchases of the base after having a 750 of it.

The original pillar of beasts tasted like BA Behemoth with adjuncts to me, and it did not work at all.

I came back to say basically what the last two posts have said. I never felt like all of the flavors matched up with the American base. Seemed like the beer was confused and had no identity.

As I start my second coconut one, I'd say this is an improvement over the original. It eliminates that odd behemoth backbone for the most part and becomes a new beer. It makes a lot more sense but still an interesting project

I'm drinking this one more chilled than the first and I like it better at cooler temps. Not ice cold but a few degrees cooler than you'd usually have a barleywine

LP binny’s…although I noticed you’re in Missouri, so that doesn’t help you at all.

If anyone is in the Columbus, IN area, Cork VI has Permanent Funeral in. It's not my neck of the woods but I had time to kill so took a lil field trip to make sure I had some for the weekend before I start a new job.

The FFF beer finder only listed that store

I think you are supposed to drink it as they don’t list it as a suppository.

Lunar Throne- giving me some serious Other Half NEIPA vibes. First thought was it was closest thing to Hop Butcher locally, but it has a way more soft/pillowy mouthfeel that HB’s hazys lack and just tastes lighter. Beer smelled absurdly strong of ripe papaya to the point that if this was blind tasting I’d have bet there was papaya juice in jt or a papaya on the table. Feel like this beer needs a few more weeks to lose the harsh hoppy “green” flavor at which point it would be pure NEIPA ambrosia. Right now it’s a bit to hop caustic for my liking though as it warms its losing that edge. Pretty impressive experiment from FFF and closest hazy banger since there Stay Lit collab back in like ~2016/17?
