    What - is - up, y'all?

Back after a long work day and with.... a real beer.

Cannonball/Comrade/Cumbre's collab Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Excellence. 7% ABV(?).

An IPA, as you may already know. It's pretty damn good on first taste and growing on me with every minute. Great west coast meets mountain attitude beverage here; not a ton of head produced (unless you spoon-fluff like @beergoot - hee-hee), but see-through, dry, complex, delicious, and just the right amount of bitter. Nice.

Solid AF beer here, glad I scored a 4 pack before it disappeared into the ether.

    What's your news today?

    Cheers....

Orange juice looking body; initially nice looking head, fairly thick and foamy then thin, patchy wisps of foam sit atop the beer. Citrus-like aroma; odd woody-herbal undertone; pine resin; an oat-like quality. Acidic, bitter flavor with a lemon and orange pitch infusion; a mild touch of oat grain; phenolic bitterness. Heavy body; sharp and acidic; alcohol dryness.

I've tried only six Trillium beers total and most have been pretty good - 4+ overall ratings. But this plus one sampled in 2020 - Omnipolloscope #5, just didn't cut it for me. Think sharp, acidic cardboard. I'm thinking the 3+ months of age may have something to do with this.

At the DFW airport in the American Airlines lounge in the E Terminal. It’s a hike but worth it when they have this iconic beer, which I’ve not had in a while (probably 4 or 5 years).

I can’t find a date code, but it tastes very fresh and delicious - and I freaked out the bartender, who couldn’t find a bottle opener, so I yanked out the Floyds bottle opener and popped the top before he could do a search. “You travel PREPARED.”

    Yep. All beer nerds do.

The flavor is surprisingly mild, for a wild, foresr/woods grown mushroom

It can also be shredded, just like crab meat.

Ghost in the Machine with some wings that are about to be reheated. The Ghost was bottled on 10/4 pretty good. They switched from yellow ink on the brown bottle to black on brown.....WTF....I didn't spot the date until pouring it......but it worked out.

@Beersnake1 sent this mystery beer to me. All he told me is it was higher ABV. No clue to what it is. I'm guessing a BA barleywine???

I will post a reveal later, and put my notes into the system on said beer - unedited - after the reveal:

    Mystery beer:

This review is written blind. I have no clue as to what it is when writing this. All I've been told is it's higher ABV:

    Looks - 4.25

Brown pouring with a 1 finger or so tan head. The retention is decent. There's no lacing on the glass. Looks like it could be a barleywine?

    Aroma - 3.75
Well, whatever it is, it smells very barrel aged. I'm guessing whiskey barrel. That is the main aroma I get here. Not really getting a lot of depth in the aroma.

    Taste - 4.5

The flavor is a lot more deep than the aroma let on. It's boozy up front for a second. The back is where the flavors kick in. Tons of caramel and toffee hit hard. A bit of plum comes in as well on the way back.

    Body - 4.75
The body is full. From the aroma I was expecting a booze bomb, but it's not. There's a bit of heat that hits up front, but mellow. The body is quite full, and very smooth. Very little burn.

    Overall - 4.5
I am not sure what it is. I'm guessing a BA barleywine, but probably totally wrong here. Whatever it is, I like it, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it.

This seems to fit with the mystery beer.
