So as others have mentioned earlier, it’s the official “share weekend” for our NBW BIF #16.
My sender was @Victory_Sabre1973 and the only clue he provided was “low abv”

So, the pour was rather the color of pink lemonade and the head was as close to pure white as I think I have ever seen. The liquid is translucent, maybe unfiltered.
The aroma is tough for me, my nose was damaged while I was younger and still stupid, but curiously plums and maybe apple come to mind.
The taste, definitely not pink lemonade and not certain but don’t think it is a Gose as salt isn’t something I am detecting. But apple and plums are still in play. Also, hibiscus comes to mind but I don’t know if I could define what that even tasted like so I don’t know why.
The feel is good, I just finished moving a few hundred pounds of leaves and this hits the spot. If I wasn’t reviewing it live and trying to eek out its secret identity, I would have probably slammed it.
    So, the reveal-
    [IMG]
Pink Slip from Überbrew, a fruit beer with copious amounts of raspberry and lime.
Well, I apparently suck at this! I didn’t get either raspberry or lime.
But it was really tasty and I enjoyed every drop. Thanks James!

Glad you enjoyed it, it is one of my favorites from them. So glad it’s not just sold in bombers anymore.

Having a mellow, dreary Sunday after a hectic, gorgeous Saturday. The kids demolished the parents at Hand and Foot. Drowning my shame with this.

Got this from the newly domiciled @FBarber
Brewed with smoked malt, chocolate rye, juniper, and granite rocks. Cool stuff like this from breweries I've never heard of are one of the main reasons I missed trading. Thanks!

The smoke is more pipe tobacco around the campfire than meat and it's really strong throughout. There is also some peppery rye bread, minerals, and a hint of tart fruit. This is tickling me just right.

Drekker Orange/Banana BRAAAAAAAAins Double Fruit Smoothie Sour, 6.8% ABV. Pours opaque light orange/yellow with a one-finger light-yellow head that left puree residue. Nose is orange, banana, and vanilla. Taste follows, moderately sweet, slightly tart, faintly bitter, with salt on the close. Nice smooth and creamy mouthfeel, overall outstanding. One of the better BRAAAAAAAAins variants.

Enjoying the great Western New York weather that we have had this fall! Unfortunately it looks like its gonna end by next weekend. Oh well.

    Tree House Juice Machine. 8.2%.

Nice head on it, yellowish opaque appearance.
Medium to full body with wonderful chewy mouthfeel!
Taste is fresh mango, melon with a hint of pineapple hops. Their is some nice dankness and very little sweetness. The hops really shine!
Love the finish, nice semi bitter melon and pineapple hops that really stick to the back of your tongue!

I use a different scale to rate beers than BA's 1-5 scale, but this is 1st class NEIPA that it lives up to the hype!

    Greetings, fellow NBWers,

39° and cloudy in Spokanistan. Rain expected later on today and some snow overnight and tomorrow, 1-2" being predicted. Weather in general has been"raw" this past week.

Yesterday I paid my first visit to Chalice Brewing, in nearby Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Interesting location. It's right down on Sherman street near the resort, which can't be a cheap rent situation. Around 20 taps. All but two were guest taps. Apparently, they use a pair of one barrel systems and rarely have more than a couple of their own beers on. Unusual.

I had their True Appaloosa, a 6.5% Baltic Porter, which I'd describe as very solid without being too terribly remarkable.
Then I had one of their guest beers, Stillwater's Extra Dry Saison, which eminently lived up to it's name. Very light, crisp and flavorful Saison, from a western Washington brewery I'd previously not heard of.

My friends and I then adjourned to a sushi place down the street where I had a very unremarkable bottle of Kirin (I think I reviewed that one in my very early days on BA, but am not certain) but the food was great.
On the way back to Spokane we stopped at Snoweater Brewing in Liberty Lake, where I had a couple beers, including this FH Citra IPA that was pretty much all you'd want out of such a beer if you dig Citra hops.
Lots of fruity and citrusy hop flavor on display with this one.

Today I've got a few things to choose from for new beers. Not sure what I'll hit but I'll definitely be back.

Sort of a cross between Kölsch and Schwarzbier - roast barley was steeped (cold) rather than mashed (hot).

    4.06/5 rDev -3.6%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Packaged on 10/6/22, consumed on 11/6/22 - poured from a 16oz can into my Uerige stange/stick.

Clear kobicha liquid with rufous highlights and a small rapidly evaporating stand of almond/bone foam. No lacing; poor retention.

Roast malt, toast, and some nutty/coffee aromas. Maybe some faint herbal/earth notes.

Quite fruity and somewhat floral palate entry - malty, but more on the clean/pils side with secondary roast notes. Sustained, medium bitterness with herbal/earthy hop flavors balancing the gentle stone-fruit like esters from the yeast and the malt backbone. Dry, faintly tart finish with some residual roasty/nutty/coffee notes.

Clean, light-bodied, gently carbonated, with light acidity and low alcohol. Not quite bright/crisp, yet more refreshing than smooth.

Interesting, well executed experiment that defies style guidelines (making this difficult to rate).

Afternoon all! I am enjoying this "california-style pilsner" from Roaring Table Brewing and Hop Butcher for the World. If you're wondering what a California style pilsner is here is what they say: "this modern take on a hoppy, crushable lager incorporates elements we've come to love from West Coast IPA's, Cold IPA's, and noble European pilsner beers. Don't overthink it, just drink it!"

Pours a crystal clear pale golden straw color. Thick, frothy white sudsy head forms on the beer, lingers momentarily before dissipating until just a thin layer of foam remains. Aroma has notes of wood, fruit, some tropical notes with a touch of peach. It's quite nice - the Mittelfruh give it a more old world aroma, but the citra and nectaron bring that fruitiness to it.

Taste is initially defined by a crisp malt backbone with notes of cracker and hay. On that backbone the hops are able to shine through and liger into the finish. The hops provide notes of melon, white grape, peach, and some light citrus notes. Moderately bitter on the finish with a slight lingering woody-bitter note. Feel is light, crisp, easy drinking and bright. Bright carbonation. Dry finish.

So, this drinks like a dry IPL - and I love it. Great beer, wish I had grabbed more of it.

That was one of my favorites that I picked up on my vacation to Montana a couple of months ago. I enjoyed my first one swimming in the Dearborn River from a 32oz crawler.

Drinking from a crowler while swimming in the Dearborn River? That might be the most Montana thing I've heard in a long while. You, sir, know how to party!

Jet black body, opaque; thick, frothy and semi-creamy head, light tan color. Huge roasted grain aroma with a touch of char; intriguing ester presence, like cherry or strawberry. Big, rich flavor; semi-sweet chocolate and cocoa; moderate bitterness; coffee notes. Dense mouthfeel with a soft, pillowy quality; a touch of phenol sharpness; outstanding residual sugar smoothness; feels sweet yet finishes with a nice dryness from the roasted grains and alcohol.

This is a stunning little beer. I actually forgot I purchased a six-pack the other week, but now that I have it, it's quite the drinker, especially for watching Sunday NFL after a six hour drive to southern Indiana. Anyway, a stunning and completely satisfying dark ale.

North Coast Foggy Day Hazy IPA, 6.0% ABV; 3.24 overall

A semi-gusher that pours a hazed honey color with 2+ fingers of billowy cream colored head. Good head retention & lacing

    S: Grassy, bready

T: Follows the nose, a touch caramel, leafy & woody hops, plus dryness up front & a touch of tangerine. Grassyness, woodyness, dryness & a little tangerine as this warms. Finishes dry, woody with a little leafy hop & hints of citrus

MF: Medium body. slight carbonation, okay balance

Doesn't taste much like a hazy & no freshness dating whatsoever, solid miss. Had this many weeks ago & it tasted just like this, an IPA from the early 90s

Okay, I've seen this excuse many times on NBW, now I am invoking it. I had my first one of these on Friday, but that's the weekend right?
This is Juicy Bullsh#!t from Outer LIght Brewing in Groton CT. Its a 6.1% NEIPA. The name gives you the idea the brewer made this kicking and screaming. I'm pretty sure that's not true because I have had multiple other juicy crap (good though) from them.

Poured from a 16oz can to a Nonic at fridge temp. No dating found on the packaging.
Body is a glowing gold with a pretty good puffy white head that stands over 1 inch.
Aroma is of mango and white grapes with a musty background.
The taste is similar, the mango and grapes are there, but tangerine makes an appearance also. The mouthfeel is fairly light for the style, but not detracting. Carbonation is about where it should be.
Nothing wrong with this, it could be better but very drinkable.

A couple of months ago I bought a six of this for a guest we were expecting, but they never made it. I got looking at this the other day wondering what to do with it, when I realized that though I drank pitchers of this (literally from the pitcher) before I got into craft, I never reviewed it. I've had worse (Hemperor HPA).

It is, very new. Like, I think in the last few months maybe?
It's right next door to the legendary Blue Moon Tavern. I used to live about a half a block away from there six... seven... somewhere in there years ago. Back then it was a nightclub. But it had one too many shootings and lost its liquor license, and that's a death knell for any form of nightlife. I remember way back in BIF#1 dropping my box off at the FedEx across the street and they were lamenting the bullet hole that greeted them when they had gotten there that AM. The unfortunate thing about the club closing was they had a super cool mural on the wall that got immediately painted over blank when they closed, and it was kind of fun sometimes watching the super-lowered sports cars struggling mightily with the unevenness of the road on which I lived.
It took a little while but it turned into a brewery after that: Floating Bridge. I went there once or twice. It was fine. The owner was really nice, and the beers were solid, but nothing that really jumped out at you. I think they must have been a victim of the pandemic? Anyway, now it's Ladd & Lass, and like I said, I think they finally opened up shop within the last year or less.
    Glad you enjoyed it!
    Cheers!

I thought I had grabbed something different out of the old cellar when I grabbed this and added it to the drinkin’ fridge. I had planned to have another beer sent my way in an NBW BIF. I grabbed the wrong bottle. Ah well.

This is Barncat A Handful of Darkness Bourbon Barrel Baltic Porter.

I’ve read some less than stellar reviews for this in the past which is surprising as Barncat is usually excellent. We shall see.

Pours a deep black/brown with moderate head that dissipates to thin film fairly quickly.

Wood, fig, prune and a slight boozy note on the nose. A little red Twizzler in behind it all.

Muted flavours. A little coffee, slight smokiness, some of that stewed fruit from the nose. No barrel at all. A little drying as well.

    Body is rather thin.

I can understand the reviews. This is a rare miss from Barncat for me. I doubt I’ll finish the bottle.

    Cheers.
